In my opinion, this toy it is very convenient for those busy parents that give quality time to their children, because is interesting for adults too. It has many parts that (please be aware that some are very small) that make your children been creative and exploring new forms.
I bought this set for a project that my husband and 5 year old son to work together. Granted, I know a 5 year old is not the target market or even ready for something like this on their own. My son is obsessed with battle bots and robot wars on tv. He has been since he was 3. He has been bugging his dad to build a robot with him and this worked out really well. Having the motor and everything made it come to life so in his imagination they built a battle bot :) . My husband did most of the work of course and my son also was able to help. I feel it was good for his building development and also imagination. There were a lot of pieces so I would not recommend it for a 5 year old to have on their own. My son is very patient and observant so doing this along with his daddy was a fun and bonding activity that also helped bring his imagination to life.
Just seeing how my 9-year old son put this together is amazing. I can actually see how he thinks and put things together. If you are going to give your child a fun but challenging toy, the K'nex 4WD Crusher Tank Building Set is the right one. The K'nex 4WD Crusher Tank Building Set is a small toy to put together so you do not have to lay out all the pieces on the floor. The K'nex 4WD Crusher Tank Building Set can be put together at the table. I was just amazed at how well kids can distinguish shapes, colors, parts, etc.and simply put them in order of assembly. I do not know if my son has a knack for engineering things but he seems to be showing promise on how accurately he can put things together. As a precaution, there are a lot of small parts and pieces to the K'nex 4WD Crusher Tank Building Set so please keep smaller children away. The K'nex 4WD Crusher Tank Building Set comes with a very easy-to-read assembly manual with lots of pictures as guides. All the parts matched and connected together easily. The parts snapped together so there is no gluing or taping involved. The K'nex 4WD Crusher Tank Building Set comes with a motor but unfortunately, it did not come with batteries. The last part of the assembly adds the motor to run your K'nex 4WD Crusher Tank so you need to get two AA batteries for the tank. After assembly, my son put the tank to the test. He placed the K'nex 4WD Crusher Tank on different terrains – grass, gravel, soil, and of course carpet inside the house. The K'nex 4WD Crusher Tank worked very well. I was expecting the parts to fall off, the tracks to derail, or pieces to snap off but the K'nex 4WD Crusher Tank was put together perfectly. I enjoy seeing my son play with the tank. I kind of reminded him of a great job he did assembling the tank. I believe that he realized that all the work that he put in to assemble the K'nex 4WD Crusher Tank paid off. I think the K'nex 4WD Crusher Tank Building Set is a great toy to inspire imagination, cooperation (if building with a friend) and rewarding. Overall, I am completely happy and satisfied with the K'nex 4WD Crusher Tank Building Set. Just seeing how my son enjoys playing the 4WD Crusher Tank is enough for me to say that this is a great toy. I highly recommend the K'nex 4WD Crusher Tank Building Set to all. Buy it, try it, or give it as a gift. This one is definitely a winner.
This set is great for kids or adults. My husband loves it! :) I do feel like it would be more of a challenge for kids on the lower end of the age range, but it's totally possible some 7-8 year olds could do it, maybe with a little help at times. The quality and design of this product is great. The only drawback I found is that it isn't great at climbing over many objects. It does best on flat, level surfaces. Otherwise, I would say this is a great product worth hours of entertainment.
It was a little confusing and a little overwhelming at first, my son loves to play with Legos and Mrga Bloks this time the shape and amount of pieces was really big.. but if you take your time and read the intruccions and see the pictures with details it's amazing once you start seeing the results... my son loves it and we can spend all day building so it like a smart way to spend time and learn together.
As our son has gotten older, he has played less and less with his other building toys, like Legos. The K'nex building sets are more educational but still just as fun and stimulating. He spent a couple of hours working on this one and had a lot of fun using it after he completed it. The only negative were that that tracks were hard to assemble and keep on the vehicle.
I love this line of toys for encouraging STEM activities in both girls and boys. The box is marked 8 and up but if you are purchasing it for an 8 year old they should be a master builder or plan to build it with them. So many little pieces, so many little pieces. It took us over and hour and perhaps I was reading something wrong but I really had trouble with the “chain” the toy rolls on. I was able to watch some videos to help me get this to fit right. It doesn't look like a traditional tank but I didn't find that to be off putting.
I received this product in exchange for an honest review. My 8 year old son loves to build. he loves legos, tinker toys, straws and connectors and anything else with pieces you can put together. This was an easy build for him. He finished it in one day. Unfortunately one of the pieces broke while he was man-handling his new tank. This KNex tank is not made for real play but more for just building and traveling. But he still thinks it's really cool. he thinks the best part is the motor. This tank has traveled all around my house over door saddles and from tile to wood to carpet. It even carried a couple of Imaginext and lego guys through the house. My son was thrilled that he could put his 'guys' on the tank and make them go around the house. I looked up the price of this tank and I think it's definitely worth it. I gave it four stars because I think it should be a little more durable for the age group it's targeted for. I still think this is a great toy and would recommend it.
This is a cool science set to learn a little about motors and how motors transfer energy/movement to tracks and wheels. I wish it looked more like a tank. My kiddo would be more interested in it if it did. However, between the pieces in this set and her other k'nex machine sets, she should have enough pieces to build something on her own. She loves other brick based building sets, but having the ability to make things with more moving parts will be more fun for her. I wish k'nex and brick-building kits where compatible so she could combine both. She will have fun with this, but had I not gotten it free thru Spark review program, I would not have bought it. It's fun, but has room to improve.
We build a few K'nex set before but this one was a bit more challenging. My son loves puzzles and Lego so he was excited to try this one but somehow got frustrated as some of the pieces were not really snapping together. I chimed in and we were able to complete one of the three models you can build wit this 249 pieces set. The motor is a great addition to complete the final mode, please note you will need two AA batteries for the motor to operate. Consider this set if you know a kid who is interested in puzzles and building, they will love the fact that the final product can actually moves!
