this building set is rated for ages 8 years and up. my granddaughter is age 7 and a half and she first, attempted putting this building set together by herself. I sat by and watched. she has average intelligence and has plenty of experience assembling lego sets of the small variety even up to 300 pieces. I noticed she started getting frustrated. she began complaining about the instructions. but she continued trying. but when she became cranky and tearful, I knew it was something she wasn't able to assemble. so I told her that her brother would help her put it together. her brother is age 10 with above average intelligence for his age group. as a minimal amount of pieces this set had, it was the instructions that held up the progress. but within a short time, it was all assembled. I watched my grandson playing with it at the table, shooting the rocket thing,if that is what it is called. personally, I was happy that this building set was able to be assembled within a short time, but by a 10 year old. I felt the little figures were adorable. also kids love to shoot things into other things.
K'NEX Titanfall: Militia Pilot Attack building set is a well made construction set. It has no missing pieces and, generally is easy to put together. There are some pieces that are difficult to attach to their corresponding part. That is especially true of the figurines. I helped a 7 year old assemble the Titanfall. He had a little difficulty, but we were able to figure out the problems together. The box indicates that this set is for children 8 and above; therefore, my partner was a little young. I think an older child would not have experienced the problems we did. The instructions were not in writing, but rather were pictures showing each step. These were mostly very useful, and kept us building to get the set complete.
this game is advanced and probably would be suited for an older or gifted child. The parts are easy enough to assemble, but smaller and requires a little more patient than the novice player. The action figures seem to be even a little bit more complicated. So I would recommend an adult help with the completion of the assembles and that care be taken to not force the completion or else you might break the necessary attachment for the completion....Make sure that you assemble this on a table top or card table as not to loose any parts or assembly keys.... Other than that this seems be a toy for today's child, one that would give a lot pleasure over hours of play and increase the imagination of the child using. I received the spark reviewer from Walmarts and immeadiately shared it with my grandson and his father. My grandson didn't have any trouble with the assembly or the smaller parts, of course he is 17 years of age, but still enjoys this experience... He said he would recommend this to his younger siblings and they would also enjoy this game.....
I wanted to try and see how my grandson would react to actually building something on his own. I wanted to see how he was thinking. He took to this set very well. He ask a lot of questions, but how else do you learn. He love building things like I thought he would. He has seen some other sets that he likes, and they are bigger. Now that I know this keeps his interest, I will invest in other sets. I have seen many kinds of building set and even the roller coasters, that I think he will like. My grandson has received a lot of toys over the years, but the building ones seems to hold him down for awhile. I love this one a will continue to purchase others. I like the different styles of set that are offered. It will take a minute before we run out of projects to try. He can change them when he likes to and that is what I think he likes, it's the way he wants it. Thank You because I am running out of toys.
Once again my nephew received this set for 1 of his Christmas gifts, he can now grow his army and establish the war zone with the K'NEX Titanfall Militia Pilot Attack Building Set! He can use the Militia Pilot included to battle the Spectre in one-on-one combat. This set includes 80 plus small pieces and a wrecked wall to recreate the features of the Titanfall game. What's neat about this set is he can combine with the IMC Pilot Strike Building Set to grow your K'NEX Titanfall collection which was another set I got for him for a Christmas gift. Now there will more hours of fun with these battle sets. And this set is NOT RECOMMENDED for children under the Age of 3 years old. This set is for the child builder ages 8 and up. This is what is included in the box: Recreates the Titanfall game Includes 2 figures - 1 Militia Pilot and 1 Spectre 80+ Pieces Wrecked wall So this will make a great gift for any child builder...
I got this for my son and its great! He loves K'NEX products because there are so many things you can build with them. He loves making the original items from the box and then adding them to his collection of other K'NEX and building all kinds of new things from there. Great product and awesome gift idea! :)
I truly enjoyed building this set with my 5 year old. Although it is recommended for 8+ he was very excited. I like the idea of constructing the toy from scratch and talking it through with him. This is a great toy. I would definitely buy K'NEX toys in future.
We had trouble putting it together. The pieces are hard to push together and it really hurts your thumb. The instructions aren't that clear on where and what piece you put where. I had to help my son put this together it isn't easy to do. I thought it would be easy, because there wasn't that many piece it would be a piece of cake. Boy was I wrong. Once we got it together he had trouble getting the missile to launch and the trap door doesn't work right. The good guys can't hold guns, but the bad guys can. He likes the detail on the figures. They really show what they are and have on their belts. He would put the men on it and have battles. If they would just make the instructions more clear and the pieces easier to put together he would have loved it. I love to watch him play with his toys the scene he does is amazing, but this one he just doesn't like play with it and I think it's because he couldn't do it by himself which is sad. He has so much fun with that other toy you put together.
Did not know a lot about Knex building sets - but more familiar with Lego...Unfortunately children and I were quickly disappointed. Two many small pieces and TOUGH to hold together. Even the little figures quickly fell apart. We gave up in a short time in trying to put it together. Tried with an older child 8 and they did not enjoy it any better. A lot of patience needed and not really made to play with, unless very gentle. Could not make the cannon shoot or keep the two guys together. Looked like a fun play set...But would not recommend it. Sorry...
The Militia Pilot Attack is a very simple set. Once built, it consists of 2 figures (1 Militia Pilot and 1 Spectre), a pistol, a rifle, a small structure, a rocket launcher on a tripod, and a sandbag piece. There is also a "stick" that you can assemble that you attach to the back of the militia figure so that you can move him around by using the stick instead of directly holding the figure. However, assembling this stick requires a piece that you use for the structure. On one of the uppermost parts of the structure is an "arm" to which you can also attach the militia figure to represent him flying. This arm requires one of the same pieces that you need for the stick. I am not clear if the set is supposed to have 2 of the required piece, but my set only had 1. The instructions do not list what pieces are included, so I cannot confirm which way it should be. In any case, that meant that I could only use one or the other. To use the other required disassembling one thing to make the other. That seemed a bit odd; I would think that the set would allow both parts to be assembled at the same time. The structure is very basic. It has two levels, some kind of digital wanted poster display (represented by a sticker), and a floor section that can be "broken" to represent battle damage. There really is not much to this structure, and I question the entertainment value of it. It seems that this structure is best used by combining it with another Titanfall set to add a little more to the other set. The structure is also top-heavy, especially toward the back of it, which makes it easy to knock over accidentally. The rocket launcher is capable of launching its rocket projectile by means of a coiled portion that you depress with your thumb and release to have it strike the tail end of the rocket that is protruding from the back of the launch tube. Successfully launching the rocket is something of a hit or miss (no pun intended). Sometimes I could get the rocket to launch at a good velocity and fairly far (maybe 3 feet). Sometimes the rocket would go only a few inches. You must hold the launcher very steadily for the rocket to have any chance of flying well. That said, this particular launcher works far better than the launcher that came with a different Titanfall K'NEX set that I have. With this launcher, the rocket's tail sticks out approximately 1 mm from the back of the launcher, which gives sufficient striking surface, and the rocket fits fairly loosely in the launcher so that it can easily be propelled out. In contrast, with the other launcher that I have, the rocket's tail does not stick out as much and it fits too snugly such that the rocket flies only a few inches at best. The militia pilot has ball joints for the arms, legs, and head, has bendable elbows and knees, and can twist at the waist. This gives the militia pilot a very good range of motion. However, as with all K'NEX figures, the militia pilot falls apart easily. The pilot has a hole in his back for attaching him to the stick or attaching him on top of the structure (to simulate flying). The Spectre can only turn its head, twist at the waist, raise and lower the arms, and move the legs forward and back. The Spectre does not have bendable elbows or knees, does not have any ball joints, and does not have a hole in his back for attaching him to the stick or structure. Because of the Spectre's lack of ball joints, it is a bit sturdier than the pilot. Overall, this set is not all that exciting and I do not think it is worth the $12.99 retail price. There simply is not much to do with it. If it was sold for half the price, then it might be worth it for attaching the structure to another structure that you already have, and to get the figures and rocket launcher. But, if you are getting this as a standalone set, then I do not recommend buying it.
