Kodak Slide N SCAN Film & Slide Scanner with 5" Screen, 64GB Micro SD Card & SD Card Reader

KODAK quality!! Easy to learn and use. JPG quality is excellent. I have used it for slides from 1966 thru 1968, 35MM negatives, and am currently using for 126 negatives. The 126's are from 1971 to 2001. Some negatives have aged and the quality has faded, but with this unit's adjustments I get pretty good JPG's.

This worked very well to review the many slides that my family accumulated. The process was equally good for looking at film negatives. Just follow the directions about how to view them. Editing was easy but due to the age of the media, not optimal. I have not yet uploaded to a computer to see the quality when the images are saved to the SD card.

Easy to use and am so glad I purchased this . Has opened such memories going through these old 35mm slides from 70 years ago !

I ordered this scanner from Wal-Mart after two bad experiences involving Amazon orders for similar devices. The back story: while helping my aged (80 ) mother clean her house we came across large boxes filled with slides which I offered to scan somehow. (My, now deceased, Dad had been a local-area professional photographer.) The PROs to this product are that it allows for the (rather quick) recording of personal slides, and the learning curve is small. I have scanned several hundred slides so far, and we have viewed images from 20 %26 40 years ago of almost forgotten memories. The CONs are that the device crops the image slightly - forcing me at times to choose to which portions of a graphical images to not record. A big problem is that the date selection feature only goes back to like 1980, and I have photos going as far back as the 1940's. (I discovered that a manual work around for this is editing the photo metadata within the computer being used to store it - I have an Apple MAC and used their Preview app for this from Apple's Photo app.) Minor inconveniences include the hardware only allowing for the common cardboard encased slides, I have some in metal slide holders and they are too large for the mechanism. Also the brightness controls for the backlighting could allow more refined control or a larger range. This scanner includes multiple hardwares allowing for scanning of film. I have not used them yet, but will be using soon, and anticipate no problems. I wish Kodak it included a mechanism to allow scanning of small movie film, like 8mm, bit it is what it is. And I knew that limitation going into my product search. Bottom line product wise, I wish Kodak (or a similar manufacturer) would update this product allowing for a larger date range, a larger picture size (i.e. without cropping), and including newer USB port cabling. And if higher quality is desired a higher price-point item might be desired, but this fills a basic need at a reasonable price. Also, a factor to consider is that your computer's software - especially if a purchased photo image editor is added to your system - will allow for picture refinement, including possibly the use of AI editing to erase undesired blemishes, and improve lighting. Concerning this seller, the added SD card and reader were a plus. The product arrived in new %26 undamaged condition, in new and sealed (i.e. unopened) packaging, bubble wrapped. I was very pleased from the moment I opened the box this time, in comparison to my prior experiences with Amazon's similar offerings where the manufacturer's box had been opened, and I believe - in Amazon's case - I was looking at items that had been returned, as one item even had a button jammed down, and appeared to have been pried with tools. But that was concerning my two bad experiences with Amazon's Kodak seller, versus this one from WalMart, which I highly recommend! I will utilize WalMart's "mail-order" more vs. Amazon in the future.

Basic tech/computer knowledge a must. Customer Service on the product is low.
