Beautiful and good deep tone

Zenaida June 8, 2013

The Kona K391 Parlor Size Acoustic Guitar via Walmart is an excellent buy. The sound is deep and the string action is low right out of the box. It comes with a truss rod if adjustments are needed. I own several Kona Acoustic Guitars and this was a bargain from Walmart...5 stars for this one.

Amazing guitar for the price.

ASAAA November 10, 2013

1st the guitar arrived in 12 hours from when walmart advised me it had been shipped. That is as amazing as the guitar is. Plays beautifully and has an excellent tone. Actually a great guitar for beginners and experts. I have 4 12-string guitars and have been playing for over 45 years. Was tired of tuning 12 strings and wanted a 6 string as I am trying to simplify things. Glad I chose this guitar and recommend it highly to anyone that wants or needs a guitar.

Honest review for a cheap guitar

BoomerSoonerfan August 7, 2017

I saw this guitar in a facebook post. I'm sure it came up because I search guitars all the time. When I pulled it up it had a pickup discount with it. I only paid $32 for this item. Now the 5 star rating is purely based off the fact I only paid $32. If I paid $100 to $150 for this guitar the rating would be much different. This guitar is cheaply made, but for what I paid it performs wonderfully. The sound is good, much better than I expected. It will surprise you. The bridge is listed as rosewood. Not to sure about that. It looks like plastic, I did take the bridge pins out and it is wood, just not thinking it is rosewood. Thinking its a pressed wood or laminate. The saddle is plastic and has not been sanded, at all. So the saddle will have to be lowered a little bit, Guitar plays fine without lowering it, but I bought this for my son who is just learning and I want it to be easy to play. When I removed the saddle it did have some shims underneath which needed to be removed which helped the action a little. The fret board is cheaply painted and was very dry and had to be oiled. Also feels rough under your fingers. (even after being oiled) The body strongly smells of glue, which of coarse is normal for cheap guitars. The finish of the body is surprisingly nice. The neck isn't the best, you can feel the imperfections in the neck. I also had to polish the frets. Machine heads aren't that bad. The truss rod did need adjusting, there was no pressure on it at all. So basically what you get is a decent sounding guitar that is cheaply made but not necessarily poor craftsmanship. This guitar most likely will need to be setup. The one I have was definitely not ready out of the box. (truss rod adjustment, saddle adjustment) If you never done those you can watch how to's on you tube. I would recommend this for a beginner. I'm sure if you took it to a luthier they would probably snicker at it. For $32 I was impressed. I think it can rival any $60 to $100 guitar out there.

Kona K391 Parlor-size Acoustic Guitar

Kathy December 26, 2016

This was a very special Christmas gift to my son...he was overwhelmed! He told me that this was an excellent choice for any beginner, or even intermidiate guitar player. The product information that you provided at the time of my order was what influenced me on my purchase of this particular guitar. Thank you for your comprehensive product information, and for dealing with quality vendors, and of course; for your prompt service and shipment.

Excellent Value

mrhaffer November 11, 2014

Only had this one day but very impressed with quality in general. There is a you-tube video by Grant Cook that shows how to set up this model to get smooth action. Probably will need to tinker some more with the saddle and truss rod to get it down a little more. Strings were way too high out of the box.

For the price excellent.

The guita has a good sound and can be played at gigs. The only thing that I had an issue with I wish it was made in the USA, it is imported.

I have owned Fender and Epiphone acoustic guitars in the past that I paid hundreds of dollars for and this Kona Has deep, rich sound that rivals any other guitar I have owned The only complaint I might have is hat the machine heads are a bit sloppy. It keeps tune fine, just a little extra work to get it there.
