This deficiency should be clearly noted.
The Android operating system that this device ships with is Android 8.1 which is at least 4 years old and security updates are no longer provided by Google. As near as I can tell the OS cannot be updated. The phone reports that it is up-to-date. Note: I'm currently using only WiFi, as I have not set up my phone plane with Kroger Wireless. I think that this configuration should not in anyway affect the ability to update the OS.
