The mixer works great, it easily handles the 200 lb loads of dry mix I put through it - I have no doubt it could handle up to its rated load capacity. I placed the mixer on an incline surface to reduce the angle of the rotating barrel, it just seemed like the dry contents mixed better and faster than the designed angle of the mixer. I also used it to mix 60 lb bags of type S mortar and was impressed at how well it worked. I am happy with the mixer and Kushlan's customer service - I needed a part replaced before I could use the mixer and they sent the part immediately after I called. Good mixer, good company - can't go wrong. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I really had little expectations but i must say i'm impressed. Work like a charm i guess with the reviews i read most people must not follow instructions. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I bought the electric cement mixer about a month ago and am glad that I did. My husband has used it on two projects so far and he is very satisfied with it.
Assembly was easy, the instructions were lacking a bit though. Put it to the test, 25 bags sakcrete. I put in 5 60lbs bags to start and mixer didn't hesitate. It says it can do 4 80lbs bags at a time, I believe it. I mixed 5 60's at a time, no sweat. Working buy yourself it's kinda tricky to position when dumping though in small forms. I like the capacity of the mixer and it's quiet operation too. Seems like a winner, time will tell. Love the color and mine came with orange tires too, Great color match for the Kubota!
I've only used the Kushlan concrete mixer on two small slabs for air conditioners but I have to say that I love it! The cement turned out perfect when the attached instructions were followed. I'm so impressed that I'm buying a second one. I live far out in the country so mixed cement delivery is a problem. I have to pour the slab for a garage next spring so I am going to have several pallets of cement delivered and have my sons operate the two mixers while I work on the poured cement. Money well spent.
Well built product. Plan to use it to build a retirement home in a few yesrs so beginning to collect the special tools fir the project. Be sure to add the gearbox oil as diections are not clear on whether it is there ir not. There really is no way to check the oil level in the box. Wiuld have thoyght they would have at least put in a level plug to check it. Wheels much larger than most mixers so this is a plus.
At this point, I have mixed over 2 cubic yards of concrete with this mixer, and the machine took it like a walk in the park. If you use it properly, this mixer will serve you well. ADD MOST OF THE WATER FIRST. Start mixer. Then gradually add the dry ingredients while mixing (Portland last if you are making your own mix). For larger loads (300+ lbs of dry solids), add about 5 gal of water first, tilt unit upwards slightly (1-2" board under wheels) to minimize initial splashing, gradually add solids, then bring back to level after mix stiffens up. If too "soupy," add less water next time around. If too stiff, increase water as needed. For filling in tight spots (e.g., forms less than 2' wide), having another pair of eyes there to guide you as you pour helps. Clean out unit immediately after use.
We wore out our steel drum pedestool type mixer so after doing a little research and on line price comparing, Northern tools Kushlan mixer is what I bought. So far, so good. Doing housekeeping pads for commercial equipment is the extent of our concrete work. I need a mixer I can get into buildings, hold up to three 80 pound bags at a time, mix well and be easy to load and pour. The kushlan rolls back so the drum is straight up for loading (no more spilling) I gave it a four because it is rather wide and difficult to get through doors. However, the drum is fairly easy to detach and then getting it into a building is a breese. The poly drum means no more dried concrete sticking to the drum. They say you can load four 80 pound bags at a time but I think thats pushing it's capacity.
I purchased this to mix concrete in an area of my property that a concrete truck could not access. So far, we have mixed (84) 80lb bags of concrete. We mix it 3 bags at a time and add water with a marked bucket. I found that I get a better mix by adding about 90% of the water first. Also, you need to add the mix slowly over about 10 seconds or so per bag to avoid dry clumps on the bottom of the drum. Don't just dump the whole bag in the mixer in one motion. Anyway, this thing beats the heck out of mixing by hand once you learn to use it properly. If I have any gripes they would be that this mixer is not made to moved very far at all while loaded and the foam filled tires are too soft for anything but very hard level ground. Still, once I figured out the few quirks, it worked fine. It was easy to mix batch after batch and keep a steady work flow. I'd still call mixing and pouring with it a two man job, but it eliminates a 3rd man. I really doubt that a 3 or 4 man crew could keep up with two guys using this mixer.
So far this has been a great mixer only have used it for a couple basin pours but very handy only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because the mix capacity is not quite what they say but will still mix 2 to 3 bags great and had to prop the back end up for it to mix a little better but overall and great mixer for what we have used it for so far will see how the longevity of the product is down the road
