Kwikset 83260 SmartKey Reset Cradle - Quantity 1

Device worked as promised and allowed rekeying WITHOUT original key necessary.

I have smart key locks and have used this cradle to reset my keys so now all my locks are the same key. Works well is easy to use. Can change keys at anytime if you lose your key you can quickly rekey to another key.

Kwikset smartkey is a good concept. User must be careful to insert the smart key tool in the correct orientation and push in all the way. Also, should turn the new key SLOWLY when re-keying. I believe I turned the new re-key too quickly and the cylinder tumblers did not align properly. I then ended up with a cylinder that neither key would fit. Enter the smartkey reset cradle. It was very easy and quick to recover the cylinder tumblers to a key. Just follow the quick, simple procedures. It actually takes about 30 seconds to perform. Reading the instructions takes longer than actually doing the job. Great tool. It's in my toolbox in the event I ever need it again. Beats pulling the lock and taking to the locksmith.

It took less than 5 minutes to re-key a Smartkey lock without the original key. The instructions were simple and attached directly to the reset cradle. Even a ten year old could use it. Just remove the cylinder from the lock, insert it into cradle turn the base of the cradle clockwise, insert the reset tool into the slot on the cylinder, insert the new key and your done. This is all without the original key. A must for a landlord. Saves the cost of a locksmith which would cost a minimum of 3x the cost.l

After messing up a new kwikset lock this device allowed me to fix it in 5 minutes. After installing another kwikset lock I discovered that there were no keys it in the box and again this device allowed me to reset it to any key.

Works as intended. Very easy and simple to use tool. Very quick process. Much better than buying new smart key locks due to missing keys.

Takes time to figure out how to use it

I have purchased two of these cradles and both lasted for less than 10 cylinders before it quit working. As much as I hate, I just take the locks apart and reset them that way. I have no clue to why these cradles fail after limited use at the price they cost.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased one of these for use on my new house doors as the old owner lost all keys except front door key. It worked on one cylinder, then the screw holding the spring came loose and will no longer stay in place rendering the cradle completely useless. For the money this should work on more than 1 cylinder.

Tried using it on three separate locks and it didn't work in resetting the key for any of them. There is a video on YouTube showing how to reset the lock without the cradle or the key and it worked and was just as fast as what the reset cradle would've been if it had worked.
