The lock and unlock functions are a little loud, especially when the deadbolt releases. There also isn't much indication that the keypad is reading your code as you enter it, so sometimes it's unclear whether it registered until the lock either unlocks or you have to enter the code again. Occasionally, the keypad doesn't recognize the code on the first try, requiring a second attempt. Overall, the setup was very easy, and despite those minor issues, the lock works great.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have never tried one of these Touchscreen Smart Locks, so I was pretty excited to get this one! First thought after opening the box is that it's a nice size and sharp looking! I couldn't wait to get it on our door. My husband and I spent some time looking over the instructions and getting it installed. It wasn't super difficult but took some time. But it looks great! The app was easy to find and download. I like that it walks you through everything. As someone who tends to loose their keys, I was pretty excited to have a key pad. We set up our code and it works perfectly! The only issue I have run into so far is the wifi side of things. I think that has to do with the speed of our wifi though. It tends to be slower when we are in certain rooms. But when my signal is strong it works perfectly! We have lots of doors in our home and I would absolutely replace all the locks with one of these! It's awesome and so nice if you have lots of people coming in and out. No need for extra keys... just give them the code! I would definitely recommend getting one (or multiples) of these awesome Smart Locks!!!
I purchased 3 of these locks for my home and they have worked great. It is nice that I can check and see if the locks have been locked. If not they can be locked remotely with the app. I have one lock set to lock automatically 2 minutes after being unlocked. I do have an issue with the plastic battery covers. The tabs that hold the covers on have broken on 2 of the locks so I have them taped on. I would be happy to purchase replacements but I can't find replacements anywhere. There is a 65198 number molded in the plastic but I can't find any replacements. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Bought about one year and a half ago and the screen looks scratchy everywhere and it's hard to see the numbers in the daylight. How to fix? or buy another product? Tried to upload photo but doesn't allow me
Worked well for about 6 months until the winter. I noticed the battery terminals rusting; cleaned them lightly and it worked fine for a month. After the batteries EMOdied again it stopped working I've tried decal new batteries and nothing works; additionally the entire terminal is rusted. Is this a warranty issue?
We have four of these Halo Keypad Wi-Fi Enabled Smart Locks. Although the lock and keypad work well, the frustration comes from the "Update Now--Firmware Update Available" notification which is on the screen for each of the locks every time I open the app. It instructs the user to get close to the lock and press update. On all four of the locks, I have tried to update, but none of them will connect. Upon a search, the instructions are to toggle the bluetooth button, which I have done, and I receive the same error message every time. I worry that one day the locks will not work in my app because I haven't done the update yet. My husband and son cannot update their apps either. After searching online, I found there are many others with this frustration. If I knew now what I didn't know then, I would have purchased another brand besides Kwikset.
We have two of these. Battery life is very bad on both. Even when the lock hasn't been used, the batteries are low within two months. Today one of the locks is no longer getting power. I changed the batteries and it gives an error, that it can not connect to Bluetooth. It appears the unit is not getting power.
Had it for about a 2 years and the screen has cracked like a windshield in cold weather. Normal use nothing extreme and live in VA so no extreme outdoor temperature…just poorly made. Now we can't see the numbers on the screen to even use it so have to throw it away.
Haven't had this lock too long but the screen has been slowly cracking for a while. Assume it does not take the sun well. All the other functions work as expected. But screen reliability is not good.
Eats batteries unbelievably fast. My older Kwikset locks I have to change batteries once a year. And those doors get used more than the "Halo". As these fail I will try another brand.
