Kwikset Signature Single Sided Deadbolt Lock

Exactly what I needed. Easy to install and works perfectly.

I bought two new Smart key entry knobs with double cylinder dead bolts as a kit. Installation was simple and the smart key worked as advertised. Took about half hour to to complete both doors.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had a chance to change out my lock yet because I need to get a matching door knob but already it tried using the rekey option and it is really a neet option. I will be replacin all my locks so I can have the option for shared keys on specific doors. I like knowing my side garage door can share the same key as my deadbolt.

We looked into it to see what brand of keys may work in this ahead of time and found out that you do have to do your own research of finding the brand that works with this to use this. While using this we found it was a bit tricky at first of making the keys that go into this work but it was quite nice as we lost all the keys on our key ring and it's less heavy now. This can work on any door in the house and not have those heavy keys hanging on that key ring. I would definitely recommend this if you have people coming and going instead of having all these keys for all different doors. It's a very sturdy lock and a very trusted brand

If you ever need to change your Deadbolt & key the Kwikset components are almost universal. This means that one can usually change out the cylinder and use all the old hardware and latch, the part that moves in & out. The Kwikset brand is especially handy for landlords that need to change locks quickly & often. Another bonus Kwikset give you is the fact that repair parts are often in stock at your local hardware, and the keys somehow duplicate easily & correctly. I can't tell you how many times I've had a key made for a different brand and it didn't work. Kwikset duplicate keys always work the first time for some reason. A little security tip; if you use a foot or so long piece of plumbers strap (metal tape w/holes) screwed along the wooden door frame (behind the molding) to reinforce the hole for the latch - it makes it very difficult to kick in the door. If you need keyed alike locks, the key codes are on the package. So you can match up as many keyed alike locks as needed.

Works great for 2-3/8" backsets. Does not adjust to 2-3/4", despite stating it does on the packaging. After a half hour trying to figure out the mechanism to adjust the backset length I called support and was told the model is not adjustable. I need a lock with a 2-3/4" backset and will buy elsewhere. A functional lock, but I'm disappointed in the advertising.

I purchase this deadbolt but when it arrived one of the bolts would not fit in the screw hole. The threads in one of holes looks like it is cross threaded and one of the bolts had been cut off but too short so I can't install the deadbolt. Even though I own several smart key handles sets and deadbolts I can not recommend this one. The quality control is just not there.

I bought the Kwikset Re-Key Kit and followed the instructions carefully. I ended up with both the original key and new key being rendered useless. Had to replace the smartkey deadbolt with a new set. What looked like a simple rekey solution turned into a waste of money!
