We bought a double cylinder Arlington handset for our French front door in 2007. Living in Florida and near the ocean are hard on metals with salt air punishing even the hardest metals. About every three years, the handsets began to show signs of corrosion. Called Kwikset with the original sales receipt information and they replaced the complete set, including new lock cylinders, without question. Have had to do that three times, each time sending them a photo and receiving new complete sets. Polished brass may not be the best choice for salt air but they look darned nice on our doors. Moreover, we are most impressed with the quality of Kwikset products as well as their standing behind the product. Lifetime guarantee. They really do mean it!

A warranty replacement was required on my first handle in less than three years. I learned the surefire way to protect the finish indefinitely is to spray the handle with automotive clearcoat when it is new. After five years or more the areas that are touched by hands will have to be refinished with clearcoat again. The clearcoat had failed and not handleset finish. Not a big deal to have the best looking handleset in the neighborhood. The attached photo shows my sixteen year old handleset.

Put these on all my exterior doors for 3 reasons ... arthritis in my thumbs makes a knob painful to turn, the rekeyable function is wonderful feature and keeps all set to the same key, and very attractive. Didn't know I was going to be even more pleased with the warranty after I had one replaced with zero hassle. No regrets!

The top lock got to where it did not work. I contacted Kwikset and they replaced the unit.... with one with the smartkey features. I was wonderfully surprised and have told all my family that Kwikset is the way to go on purchasing a door lock. You all definitely sold me on Kwikset!!

I had to re-key the house and support helped me by providing me with a Smartkey replacement for one of the doors for free. I also had trouble with the bolt not retracting fully on the front door and they sent me replacement parts very quickly, again for free. Very happy!

I've had to replace a set three times. Once for finish and three times cuz the deadbolt part keeps falling apart. The cylinder twice broke already and the handle set ended up not working after 2 years. I probably should have bought the more expensive one but figured that since this product was used many times before that it wouldn't be an issue on my own home.

I have the Arlington entry door set in polished brass. I am on the third outdoor handle with the push button lever. Over time the push button mechanism does not pull the door latch back far enough to release the door. The interior mechanism has always worked fine. This is the main entry point for our house and it gets used alot but I would expect this product to hold up.

We purchased this set for a double door when we built our home 18 years ago. We are about to put our house on the market now and have to buy a completely new set, because the existing set are in such awful condition. The lifetime aspect of this set might be the lifetime of a dog, but certainly not the lifetime of a person owning a home. This might not be a consideration for those who move every 7 years or so, but if you plan on staying put, be warned. The brass coating dissolves over time, it then becomes patchy and bits of it turn brown with some blue hues. Here is what your door will look like in 18 years.
