Kwikset SmartKey Security Juno Keyed Entry Doorknob Gold with 2 Keys

I bought the Juno entry (740J 5 SMT) and I have them on four (4) doors in my home. I have a large hand and the Juno fits my hand comfortably. We like the antique brass finish and all are in "like new" condition. Re-keying is easy but read the directions well or you may find yourself locked out. I found out the hard way. If you pull the re-keying tool before inserting the new key - it resets the cylinder to a pin combination for which you have no key. (Do NOT close the door until you know the re-keying took).

Have 4 that I installed 4 years ago. Installed easily in the existing openings. Outside portion still looks like new. Can not say enough about the SmartKey system. Really like being able to re-key easily whenever necessary. Will never buy another keyed lockset that isn't a SmartKey.

Bought today. I consider myself handy and can do or fix anything. Installing this Juno Kwikset security knob was difficult. The outside knob must mate with the inside knob and then the two longer screws attach it together. 1. Screws are undersized in length and diameter for this job. 2. The alignment for starting to thread the screws is close to impossible on first 10 attempts. 3. Some engineer should try it. If one screw is stared the other is hard to align with the reception hole. This is frustrating and worthy of telling you. Please look into it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have 3 Juno knobs (1 Keyed, 1 Hall/Closet and one that connects to an exterior latch). The look and the finish matches other doorknobs in my home so I thought they would be great. However, the installation was unnecessarily difficult due to very poor design. If the screws that secure the knob to the door aren't screwed in exactly right, the knob falls off during use. It wasn't possible to use a screw driver of any size to tighten the screws after the knob was attached. It's difficult to describe the problem. The interior knob and faceplate come attached to one another as a single unit. The screws are attached to the opposite knob and pass through the latching mechanism. To install, one has to snag the screws with the faceplate and twist the knob to lock it in place. Because there is no way of knowing exactly how far to screw in the screws I had to repeat the process over and over again until I finally gave up. The doorknobs are functional but I fully expect them to fall off again. The knob on the exterior latch set is wobbly and leaks cold air. Not a happy camper.

The length of the handle is not long enough for the screwdriver to engage the phillips head screws with out strippng the heads of the screws. Sad, I have 7 more to install. Seriously considering just returning them and getting a different brand.

I never would have thought that Kwikset would create a crap knob, and yet, here it is. I have been using Kwikset knobs since my first house 40 years ago and have never had an issue replacing the deadbolts or entrance knobs. This knob is the worst! I have installed on four doors. On all four doors the knobs have pulled off. My electrician fixed the front knob he pulled off, which has pulled off again. My handyman re-installed my garage knob, which pulled off again and my other handyman re-installed the back knob, which just pulled off again. The laundry room knob is two pulls away from the same outcome. I thought it was me. Clearly, it is not me, it's the knob. I get you were trying a new way to install a knob, but the old way worked really well and didn't need to be changed. I'm afraid to buy replacements as I really don't want knobs that all have this new way of install.

It was junk...sorry but not quality at all. Key reset thing even broke off.

I have spent quite a while trying to install this doorknob. It should not be that difficult. The directions are terrible and are pretty much worthless. I now have a $20 paperweight and no doorknob. Awesome.

The knob directly covers the screw holes, can't even angle to screw in. Screws are weak and immediately stripped when trying to back out. Terrible design, poor quality.
