La Crosse Technology 925-1418 Sensor Protection Shield with Mount

I was really happy to see there finally was a product that would shelter an outdoor temperature sensor. I previously built covers that were never that sturdy or protective, or I've only been able to position previous sensors under the eaves of my homes and the rafters would block most of the air movement, giving me questionable temperature readings. The shield, on the other hand, can be mounted on the side wall of the home and air movement is not restricted. Thanks for this product, for sure.

Nice option to mount & protect the outdoor electronic sensor. I easily installed mine on a north facing window frame. Is working well even with my second "console" upstairs and across the house.

Three options for mounting on vertical post or pipe. Included screws and nylon ties will serve for most situations. I had to substitute longer ties for larger diameter railing vertical upright. Be sure to locate in shaded and protected area at least 5”or 6” high. I immediately saw more accurate readings from previous location.

Great item. I wanted to buy another one for my other unit. But a friend of mine told me to just get a tuperware container (size for a sandwich) and place my transmitter in it. That way its inside the container from the elements. Mouisure is the enemy to those transmiters

This is the same brand as my sensor so it fits perfectly. It is exactly what I needed to keep the sensor dry.

This Sensor Shield is will built and would have work great for my first choice use, but the size was too small. It would be great to have an option for a couple larger size units. I was able to utilize it for another project.

I like the unit. Very nice and easy to install. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the "zip ties" that came with it split as soon as I tried to tighten them. They were very old.and obviously brittle. So I had to get more. One other minor concern I have is if the small insects that inevitably collect inside the sheild will migrate into the sensor itself. Frequent removing and cleaning of the sensor and cleaning of the interior of the unit may be necessary. Only time will tell.

Too early to rate but several times the device was not accurate. Maybe we will change position in yard of weather sensor. I did give a three rating but hopefully that will improve.

The sensor shield is not designed well because it is too small to adequately shield a sensor from the sun. I might help with indirect sun, if it is placed in mostly shade.
