My old Seagate drive used for archiving had a few bad sectors, after looking around I decided on the LaCie for the extra warranty. I was very, pleasantly surprised, surprised at the all metal build and how quiet it is. My previous Seagate archive is still going strong, just for safety I replaced it, I think this new one will do better
I've been using these drives for many years now. They are dependable and perform very well. Reliability is important to me since I use these to store photos externally. I also use other Lacie products to back these up. Every hard drive I own is Lacie and has been that way for at least a decade.
I like this drive so well I bought two. I use one as a backup and the other as a aux drive for my Mac.
This is one of the best computer accessories I've used. It has a whopping 8T of space to back up everything over ever need. I've put my music, photos, videos, and all of my games on this and I'm not even over a quarter of the used space yet. It's also very small considering how much space it holds and looks very stylish when placed on your desk. I'd highly recommend this if you find yourself wanting a good backup OR just needing extra space if your computer is full.
I recently got this hard drive to back up all the information on my computer and it couldn't have been any easier. Setting up this hard drive was very simple and quick. Just hook it up and follow the prompts. Once set up, data transfer goes very quickly. The best part about it is the huge 8 terabyte space. I can store everything I need and so much more on this. This is amazing! Definitely replacing all my old back up hard drives with this one.
I purchased the 8TB external drive two weeks ago. After preparing it as a Time Machine backup drive to my Mac mini, it works automatically without any needed prompt from me. I'm looking forward to many years of dependable service from this Lacie external peripheral drive.
I got this for my son who who is going to school for liberal arts. He does a lot with photography and wanted something for him to keep all of his work on to keep it safe. He wanted to keep all of his work so we needed something with lots of storage and this is it. He also does a lot of his drawings on his tablet and transfers them to this hard drive well. I highly recommend f you need alot of storage this is amazing
I have been pleased with the performance of this drive. It does everything it says it will. The data transfer is good and storage is in the sweet spot for my family computer. Great option for those not ready to go to a network devise but still looking for a good amount of storage.
The solid aluminum frame, high capacity and speed are a great to have, but beware of the blue led light which is really bright and obnoxious. What were the designers thinking? Oh well, nothing that a piece of masking tape can't fix. Also, I formatted the drive to NTFS since I will only be using it with Windows machines.
I'm always buying 2 D2 drives at time to copy and archive my photography work. Been using these drives for years and have never had any issues. Keep them coming! #sweepstakes
