Purchased one year ago, found door to be very useful during Seattle summer to keep flying bugs out. Spring retracting mechanism failed after one year past installation, had to request replacement parts. Glad family member is handy-man capable or else I'd be stuck with a defunct sliding door.
Just installed the Brisa 96" retractable screen door. We picked Larson because of the sandstone color and the subtle stripes so no one walks through it. Well, the top stripes are 80" high, so they are worthless! They need to be lower so normal size humans can see them, not giants! The second complaint is that it takes 2 hands to latch the screen. This is ridiculous. We should be able to use one hand to latch it closed. I can understand maybe 2 hands to unlatch it, but PLEASE, why do I need 2 hands to close the screen?
Love my restactable screens. Just be aware that they are VERY difficult to get the frames to snap together...and impossible to get apart if you need a replacement screen. My screen 'pulled out' at the bottom of the pull rail and I have not been able to get a resolution with Larsen, so I've had to order a new one. Also be aware you CANNOT talk with a live person, so you spend endless time on the chat line trying to get help.
Days after installing the retractable screen, our dog ran through the screen. I have attempted to go online, but there is no option. If I select "order by.." photos, screens are not included. It I select, by "registration" number, the site does not recognize my registration number which I used to register the door. Ready to buy an entirely different screen door from another manufacturer. The door is a great idea, but is not as smooth as described. Screen drags inside & requires slamming to latch.
Here in Colorado with the low humidity and breeze we can usually get by with moving air. The Brisa screen seemed like a great idea. The problem is any breeze and the screen pulls out from the tracks . Retracting the screen resets it but problem is continuous. Will need to return this and find a different solution
Bought 2 of these 2 weeks ago. 1 is fine because it hasn't been used 1 time. The other one screen comes out of top track constantly now the screen is frying. I would not recommend these doors. Great concept bad design. The should make them were they don't come out of tract and if needed the screen can be replaced easily. Waste if $ really
Rolling mechanism separated from the screen in under six months under normal use. Customer service claimed this was not covered by warranty.
