Late Night Legend (DVD)

Gave this to my father who enjoyed Johnny Carson for years. He said it is some of the funniest moments from the show.

The episodes on these DVDs are not from the Tonight Show but from Johnny's first show called the Johnny Carson Show. The sound is still quite good but the pictures are poor. Personally, as he was first starting out, he did have amusing comedy but not as good to me as his later performances in the Tonight Show

When I ordered, I was expecting it to be all Johnny Carson shows (35 episodes). If the back of the tin had been shown along with the front, I might not have ordered it. As it is, I watched the first of 4 discs, and it was all Johnny Carson shows. The second disc was other old variety shows, without Johnny (except for a couple walk-on appearances). I've been watching the 3rd disc today, and of the shows listed, Johnny Carson isn't even listed as a guest. While these shows were popular in their day, they aren't Johnny Carson. I hope the 4th disc, when I get a chance to watch it, will be Johnny Carson and not fillers (like 2 and 3). It was cheap enough that I won't bother returning it, but I do feel that I was misled by the description.

It is a present so I don't know how it will be until it is opened on Christmas. The tin it comes in is nice.

I am very very disappointed. First when I opened the package the inside of the box set was a million and one pieces. All the packs of the DVD where pitch black which was caused by the packaging being in a million and one pieces. Second, this was not what I thought it was going to be. It is the early work. I was hoping it was what I remembered growing up. It's not, it is put together episodes from other programs. I was hoping to use this box set as something for my mother and I to watch this holiday season.
