I'm really picky about underwear, especially during my cycle, and the leak-proof cotton bikini from SAALT has been a win. The fit is super flattering and actually feels like normal underwear, which I care about a lot. I bought a mix of absorbencies, heavy for the first two days and regular for the next couple, and that setup works really well for me. My flow isn't super heavy, so I could probably get away with regular most days, but I like having the heavier option at the start just for peace of mind. I use only the underwear, no tampons or cups. In terms of how I use them, I go through about three pairs a day. I wear the sleep shorts overnight, then a bikini in the morning, and switch into a fresh bikini after my workout in the afternoon. They're thin, comfortable, and don't feel bulky, which makes a big difference during the day. I've tried a few brands before, and these are the ones I keep reaching for.
These are so comfortable—I love the natural fabric. And they fit and work perfectly. I use them with a cup just for the leaks (which happen all the time) so it's never for a heavy flow, but they're the best I've tried so far!
Love them. I have even been running in them(7 mile runs). They breathe and you don't feel like you are wearing bulky underwear. They also do not leak when I sleep.
i got a bikini pair and a brief pair and loved them both! kept me dry and comfortable during my period!
I personally don't really like the idea of using period underwear by itself for my period- the idea of washing it on a heavy day feels gross. However, it is definitely a great backup for the disc, and it's nice to use on day 5 when there's not much coming out of me anyways. I also like to wear it in the days leading up to my period, just in case it starts early- I don't like wasting liners! With that said, I am overall happy with the leakproof cotton bikini. I'm a big fan of sustainable, cotton clothing, so I was happy to see there was a (mostly) cotton option for period underwear. It is comfortable, breathable, and stays in place. It is surprisingly absorbent! My one suggestion for future products is to switch to a lighter colored material for the absorbent padding- black makes it difficult to tell how much blood is there. I don't mind if it stains on the inside, no one will see it but me- plus, who really cares, it's natural! Customer support has been amazing as well!
I really prefer the cotton over the “comfort” styles. I did need to size up on the cotton though. I think they run smaller than others styles. The regular is my preferred absorbency. I returned a super because it felt way too bulky when I tried it on. My biggest complaint is this style is only available in black. Especially for the regular, when it's probably a lighter day, I would like the option for a lighter color. One other thing to be aware of is if you're sweating a lot, or sit on a wet bench, these will soak up that liquid too. That can affect absorption and also leave you feeling wet for a long time.
They are fragile. While wearing them for the first time, I was pulling them down and my finger went right through between the detached elastic at front of leg hole. Next time I wore them, I was pulling them up and I heard the sound of thread tearing, but I can't tell exactly what tore.
We bought 4 pairs of underwear for my 14 yo daughter & she wants to return them because the first one leaked so badly. This has not happened with other period underwear.
I was very excited about these but unfortunately the absorbent area does not go up high enough in the front to provide full coverage. Leaking was inevitable based on this design. Wouldn't recommend and sad that I bought three pairs of these.
Very disappointed. I ordered the heavy. I put the panties on at 7:00 and was bleeding through my pants by 11:30.
