LeapFrog, Mr. Pencil’s Scribble and Write, Writing Toy for Preschoolers

Since Covid-19 cut my daughter's last few months of preschool short I wanted something to help her learn to write. After searing online for a day I decided on Leapfrog Mr. Pencil scribble . she absolutely loves it. She not only recognizes letters she can write most of them now. Mr. Pencil is going to be a big help getting her ready for kindergarten thia fall .

My 3 year old loves it. It is helping her learn to write her letters and numbers. My 6 year old even gets in on the act. It's really too simple for him but he likes to play with it .

The moment this came out the box, my 4 year old preschool was anxious to try it out and it won him over big time. My son is having challenges with writing and drawing and this tool definitely is helping in just a few days, from learning the proper way to write letters and numbers, to learning how to spell and draw shapes. This tool is a must have. I gave it 4 stars because I have 3 small cons, the packaging is a struggle to get through. Took me about 10 minutes to get the toy out the box. The pencil is hard to remove from the holster. It really locks in there. My son struggles getting the pencil out. Lastly, the pencil is position more so for right handed people. My son writes with both hands at this point as he is struggling which hand he is most comfortable with, but he hears himself towards using his left hand but he struggles with that strong being in the way and getting the pencil to position correctly when using his left hand. I think these kinds of tools should have options for lefty and righty users.

It would be so much better if it had a backlight for the screen. It is very dark and hard to see unless you are under a bright light. But I gave it 3 stars because my 4 year old grandson has been enjoying playing with it and it was on sale for $18 dollars :) but I definitely wouldn't purchase it again.

I bought this for my 4 ur old granddaughter. She really loves it. My complaint is the screen. Its small but the format is very hard to see. The manufacturer should make the screen light up like a computer screen. The background is gray and not lit so therefore with the writing and pictures being gray as well its difficult to see. With this little tweak, the scribble and write is an great way to help teach children how to write ABCs and understand the vowel sounds.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my soon-to-be 2 year old. After the batteries died, it took a whole for me to replace them as I wasn't a fan of the dark small screen. After replacing the batteries, I couldn't get it to come on. I went back to using an app on her tablet where she traces with her fingers. (I got the V-Tech one too just haven't tried it out yet as it is bigger than her.) This product would be great if the screen was a bit bigger and came with a backlight. We both love that she can carry it around. As I am not a fan of cleaning pencil walls from scribbles, I saw this as an alternative. I always sing praises whenever someone asks me a brand of products to use but not for this particular toy. Fix the problem Leapfrog and I will.
