Code & Go Mouse Mania Board Game is a fun and educational way to teach kids to think like a coder would. We had never heard of this game before being selected to try it through a program, and boy were we pleasantly surprised! My husband works in the Cyber Security industry, and codes as part of his day to day. He was tickled by how easy and kid friendly the game made coding for our children (5 and 8 years old). The kids picked it up quickly and it wasn't long before we were adding our own rules to make it even more challenging. (We're a highly competitive family, but we leave it all on the table once the game is put away! We gave each player a wall at the start of the game, so they could play it at any point during the game in an attempt to block another player. We generally don't roll that many walls, but the game already states if all the walls are on the board, and you roll a wall, you can move any wall on the board to another position, so it worked well for us!) I would definitely recommend this game, in an ever growing cyber based society, any step up you can give your kids is a worthwhile endeavor!
My 5yr old and 9yr old love learning together while they play this game. I told them they are coding and it took a minute for my 9yr old to realize that they are! It is a fun, cute game but also educational at the same time. My 9yr old is very familiar with coding due to being in school full time, my newly 5yr old isn't as much and I feel like this gives him a head start on what he is about to learn.
My kids liked the game once they finally figured it out. They design leaves something to be desired and the instructions were a little difficult to understand. The product game board was cheaply made and started to tear when playing.
I loved this game for my 5 year old. I explained a couple times how the game is played and he understood after a few games! Great educational game to learn coding.
i love using this product with my kids it's perfect to teach them thinking skills and how to solve a problem plus it's perfect for family to teach how to work together
My kids have really enjoyed this game! 3 of my kids ages 11, 8, and 5 have been playing together. The older two have had to help the 5 year old, but he has fun and is learning lots with a little bit of guidance!
My kids really loved this game. Overall, it was fairly easy to play and they didn't have too much trouble figuring out the directions. I think it is one that can be played over and over since the outcome will change with each game. Even my younger than 5 year olds had fun trying to play the game. They love the little mice and pieces of cheese they need to collect.
I received this Code and Go Mouse Mania board game by Learning Resources complementary from Viewpoints Sampling program to try with my own children and because I am a childcare provider. My children that are of age to be interested in these types of games are two kindergarten boys ages 5&6. My daycare children were still a bit too young to play this. So off I went to play the game with my two youngest sons. At first they were very thrilled with the idea of the game(they love board games) and loved the mice and cheese. We had never seen this game so the newness made it more exciting also. We took everything out and they LOVED the idea of the "warp zones" which thanks to video games, they viewed as teleporters! Once we actually started playing and getting into the game it got a little bit harder. Trying to explain the concept of "coding" to them through the instructions was a bit difficult-which was surprising because they are both very smart and ahead, and video game whizzes. But regardless it made playing the game a bit difficult and they didn't fully grasp the concept. They did still have fun blocking with the walls and chasing the cheese. All in all I would say this is a great concept for a game and could potentially be excellent for a classroom environment for first or second graders, but I do not feel 5yrs or even 6yrs is age appropriate due to the skill level. Im sure we will still pull it out several more times to play with the pieces and try but overall this will be a game we have to hold off on a bit till they can both grasp coding concept a bit more.
It is a great learning game that makes you really have to think about what your next move will be. My 5 year old loved it but struggled with the understanding of what moves to make and why she had to make them.
I like the overall concept of this game. The problem is that my kids have been exposed to computers and tablets since a young age and have done coding on them, so this game was not as interesting to them if they had not had this prior experience. I think that younger kids would like this game, but it also may be too difficult for them to understand at times.
