Fun set!

Becky January 30, 2026

My four year old enjoys building with this set and it was a perfect activity for his monkey themed birthday party! It was the only activity one of his friends wanted to do!

FUN Building Set

yetiwifey October 17, 2014

This Gears! Gears! Gears! Movin' Monkeys set is so much fun. The set is pretty large & includes 136 pieces. Very colorful and fun. Comes with instruction book to show you how to put it together and is very easy to understand. I have two 3 year olds and they had to have some help from an adult to put it together completely at first, but after that they have had so much fun taking it apart & putting it back together in so many ways. They also love to play with the monkey's that come with the set & have them hang from all different areas. Set comes with lots of bases- all green to looks like grass, gears-in all different colors, and connectors- brown to look like trees trunks. Also comes with several pieces to build palm trees & vines for the monkey's to hang on. Comes with cranks so that after the whole thing is put together you can turn the cranks and make the whole thing move & turn. Also comes with stickers that can be placed wherever you want. Does not include storage case, but can easily be stored in box. Since there are alot of pieces, you will want to keep them together. A few of the pieces are very small. Kids can use the entire set & build something large, or just use some of the pieces and build something smaller. You can really build it anyway you want, which makes it so much fun for kids. Younger kids may need a little help from an adult, while older kids may like to play on their own. Since there are so many pieces included in the set, more than one child could play with it at the same time. Set seem sturdy & durable. Doesn't fall apart. Pieces interlook & stay together well. I think this would be great for a classroom or at home. Good for boys or girls. This set could be played with for several years. I would definitely recommend!

Really cool set...

widowmother October 14, 2014

136 piece building set. Plenty of monkeys, pieces are very colorful. Box says it's for ages 4 years old and above but my daughter is now 9 years old and absolutely loves it. Once set up, the pieces move. My daughter said it's an amazing toy that you can build different designs with. It's a very good toy to keep your kids busy while using their imaginations. Comes with plenty of pieces to make a neat design. Instructions included are easy enough to follow. Monkeys hang, spin, and swing. Box says it works with other gears gears gears building sets. No batteries needed. Interactive jungle. Kind of like a puzzle putting it together at first, after that it's easy enough to understand what pieces do what function. I cannot see my daughter getting bored with this any time soon. Comes with 8 stickers to put on a few pieces. I am always looking for brite colored toys that help build her imagination, that moves, that's not loud with annoying sounds, and doesn't require a ton of batteries that you have to keep on replacing. This fits the bill. If you open the box right, it can also be used as a storage box for easy access, but easy storage. She likes to play with this toy along with her hot wheel cars to pretend she is driving through the jungle. LOL! Worth the money spent on it.

Gears! Gears! Gears! and Monkeys!!!

treky999 December 28, 2014

The Learning Resources Gears! Gears! Gears! Movin' Monkeys comes with a 136 pieces. It does have some small parts so beware of chocking with small children. Most of the pieces are very sturdy. The bases are all green for grass. The uprights are brown to be like trees and the gears are all different colors. It does come with an instruction booklet but it is a little small in print for 4 and 5 year old's. But this is the only down fall. Once you start to put this together it is hard to stop playing with it. They say age range of 4 to 7 years of age but my 13 year old had a lot of fun with it too. She loves to tinker with building things and she just had to help her baby brother. After putting it all together as the instructions showed, she proceeded to change it up and make different scenes. She spent a couple of hours playing with her brother. The best sibling bonding we have had in awhile. The interlocking pieces make this a sturdy toy. Stringing the vine between different gear trees and having the monkeys swing from one tree to the other was fun to watch. The box it comes in doubles as the carry case and I recommend building it on a game table or floor, don't use the dining room table... if you have kids between 4-14 I would recommend this game. It is a great value for the price. Don't be fooled by the 4-7 age recommendation on the box. It will work with older kids too!!!

Gears! Gears! Gears! Movin' Monkeys

denbroncos December 24, 2014

Gears! Gears! Gears! Movin' Monkeys wow this is fun. 136 colorful plastic pieces. jungle themed activity game. This works with other gears gears gears sets. Monkeys hang swing and spin. Create as many different scenes as possible. The whole scene comes alive with each turn of the gears. The monkeys connect with hands or tails. Could not keep the kids away from this game. The most fun I have seen kids have with a learning game, will have to buy more to go with this set. I guess I wont get a turn until after the kids bedtime.Kids develop their own "gears jungle" or use the easy-to-follow instructions. Colorful set features plastic gears, crank, connectors and base plates for endless building possibilities. The kids imagination and creativity are running wild with this one. Building set for fun and challenging play. This activity game is recommended for 4 and up, I would let 3 year olds play with this with some supervision of an adult or another child. Just because of the fun the kids have with it. this toy is one of the kids favorites and looks like it will stay that way. THIS IS A MUST HAVE LEARNING GAME FOR ALL YOUNG CHILDREN. EVERYTHING MOVES AND SPINS. IT IS A FUN AND DELIGHTFUL ACTIVITY GAME WITH ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES.

Excellent toy for boys or girls.

MiniRoadster2012 December 25, 2014

Gave this set to my 8 and 6 year old grandchildren (girl and boy). They are very adept at putting together the popular building block sets. This set was as easy as other sets for them to build. The picture instructions were excellent and the construction required minimal adult help. Two kids could easily work together to build the model since the instructions are divided into several steps. Our grandchildren each took turns doing a step. The materials are very sturdy and should withstand years of building fun. The main problem we encountered was that after the scene was built it was very difficult for the 8 and 6 year old to turn the crank to make the whole scene move. Also the crank kept falling off. An adult could turn the crank and make everything move but the kids really wanted to do it. Also from the description on the box we had the idea that the monkeys would travel from tree to tree when you turned the crank. Actually they spin around on whatever limb they are attached to.

Attention span grabber!

Ladybat December 20, 2014

Gears! Gears! Gears! Movin Monkeys is heck of a fun building set! Its for ages 4 and up. Has one hundred thirty six pieces and when all connected all the gears move the entire set. Even the monkeys swinging from their little vines are swinging up and down! Its so funny! When it is all put together all the colors, gears and moving parts are a site to behold. Even the shortest attention span child can be kept interested for hours on end with this little set. Another great thing about it is even though it moves it does not require any batteries thank goodness! It is all hand powered fun. I'm pretty sure there are adults out there that are going to love playing with this toy themselves! It is a puzzle, building set, and visual stimulation learning toy all in one! A Really great idea because you have to puzzle it out, build it then get rewarded for your work by the end results being this colorful moving gears eye catching delight! You should not let toddlers play with this toy though because it is a choking hazard because it has a lot of small pieces that could get swallowed by little ones that like putting everything in their mouths.

More like a puzzle

Sherme October 21, 2014

I had my 4 year old grandsons in mind when I got this toy. They were not very interested in it. The gears are hard to crank when the entire toy is set up. Plus, there are important details to attend to when following the instructions. My 9 year old, on the other hand, really enjoyed setting it up for them. It is more like a puzzle in that regard. The easy to follow instructions break it down into sections. When all the sections are hooked together, all of the gears turn simultaneously with a push of the crank. The 4 years olds prefer to play with the gears freestyle. As I interact with them and the toy a believe they will grow into it. Movin' Monkeys is fun to explore, create, and learn. The pieces all engage each other and have different relationships with each other. They are colorful, fit well together, and are well made. This toy is of good quality and I believe it will be durable. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a toy that utilizes gears. The box says 4 and up, but I would say the optimum age would be closer to 6 to 8.

Fun Building Set for kids

Enjoymakingcards December 25, 2014

This a creative building set for kids. It will help them to use and understand the connection of gears and how they move. Lots of brightly colored gears, snap-together base plates, connector pieces, handles, and, of course, monkeys! The box says it is for ages 4+. I would strongly disagree with that. I think an appropriate age would be 6+. Younger ones would enjoy playing with this set, but I don't believe they would get much value without adult help. To build the functioning unit as shown on the box, the directions must be followed exactly. There lies the problem! The directions start with a list and number of all the different pieces. There are individual parts to be built, then connected together at the end. The only instructions are a drawing of how the components go together. It is very difficult to get the correct orientation just from the figure. It shows you the placement of particular colored gears which helps until you run out of the shown colors. You come to the conclusion that the color of the gear placement really doesn't matter! They are all the same size and shape. Two of my grandchildren, ages 7 and 5, built it but had a few left-over parts. It took three adults to back-track and find the mistakes. The directions were not very clear when the only thing that is important to the kids is, "When can I put the monkeys up?" It works great, but kids are more apt to "do their own thing". That's fine, too. They still get the benefit of fitting gears together to make something move.

Great for two or more kids!

BikingGeek October 21, 2014

This product has over one hundred small parts so it is a really big puzzle for one child to try and put together their self. This is just my opinion but I feel my daughter would have enjoyed this toy better if she had another child to help her put it together. Next time she wants to play with it I will be there to help and give her a hand. The toy comes with bright pictures and a small booklet for you to follow to help children put it together, so I felt she would be okay putting it together herself but she soon became overwhelmed with putting together all of the small pieces. Overall I think this is a good product because it is a very creative way for small children to learn problem solving skills.
