Learning Resources Jumbo Forest Animals - Fine Motor Skills for Children, Ages 3+

Our daughter was very excited about the educational figurines in the set of "Jumbo Forest Animals" from the Learning Resources company and is having a great time with her creative play. Like almost all children, she very much enjoys imaginative playing with dolls and animal figurines, and she is enjoying these forest models very much (especially the fox!). They are "jumbo," and larger than most animals figures that I have seen available elsewhere. The shape is clearly designed to be natural and accurate, as the musculature and shape of the animals coats/feathers is quite realistic. They are painted carefully, also, and are not cheap figures, as the plastics are heavy, and the figures themselves are quite solid; I think that each figure should last for years of play and learning (see video). These would be especially appropriate for classroom use, or even in a natural history museum's children's area, as they provide concrete learning opportunities to explain the specific animal's roles in the North American ecosystem. They would also work well in a diorama or other science fair display or project. And meanwhile, our daughter is really enjoying her own little woodland adventures with the help of her imagination and her new forest friends.

Excellent quality! Bought these for my children 24 years ago!!! Perfect gift for a new baby as they can enjoy them for many years! Years ago, they came in a pull string canvas bag.........it was great for easy cleanup!!!

This Forest animal toy collection is adorable! These toys seem so durable and seem to be made very well! They feel like they are made from a sturdy rubber material. The coloring is very true to the real animals which I love :). The moose is brown with light brown antlers, while the black Baer is black with a brown snout. The Beaver, fox, and owl are similar sizes (to each other) with the Beaver being the largest. The fox is a pretty reddish brown color with a white tipped tail. My baby boy is only 4 months, but I know he will absolutely love to play with these when he's a tad older! He could probably even chew on them now. There is a guide that comes with the set which gives information about each animal which I think is so adorable and educational! It also includes discussion starters to help you get your little one's attention. I think this would be a great toy for a boy or a girl and it's nice that there are several animals for more than one child to play with. I think any child would get a lot of use out of these toys. They are good quality toys and have an educational value.

The Jumbo Forest Animals were given as a Christmas gift to our grandson. Excellent quality, sturdy and very life like.

Bought these for my two year old grandson who loves realistic toy animals. A great addition to his collection.

Jumbo Forest Animals Before actually receiving this box of Jumbo Forest Animals, I thought of setting the up in some kind of created habitat to help my grandchildren with playing with these. After seeing the actual figures, I decided that by using their active imaginations they would have many different scenarios in mind for these animals. This product is very well made and should last a long time through hard play. I should have, and may still, buy as set for myself. They are a well detailed as many of the decorative animals on the market today The animals are indeed jumbo which was another pleasant surprise. The moose itself is over eight inches long and the bear is just but the same length. Another nice thing about this product is the included information about each animal. The habitat, diet, different characteristics and behavior of each will promote discussion and activities. Learning Resources, the maker of this product, has other groups of animals also. Because of the good quality of this set, I will be considering acquiring the other sets as well. This set came to me through the Walmart Spark Review program and I feel it was a very good choice on my part. I am very pleased with this product.

The Black Bear measures nose to tail 7 inches, and 4 inches tall. Bear seems to be smiling....so he is not scary looking. He does look a lot like a real bear. There are no choking hazards here. Bear is a sturdy plastic. The Moose is about 8 inches long and 7 inches tall including his rack. Moose too seems to be happy and not scary looking. Moose's rack is somewhat twist-able but cannot come loose. No choking hazards here. Moose looks real. The Beaver is about 6 inches long and 2.5 tall. Beaver's teeth are prominent and he is rather cute. Real looking too. Mr Owl measures 2inches long and 3 inches tall. He is not bendable and has pointy ears which are a little on the sharp side. Owl is very colorful and looks real. Mrs Foxy is 5 inches long and 2.5 tall. Fox is not bendable. Fox is smiling too, not mean looking. All in all this is a great product and I would recommend the animals. These are tough animals and will be in great shape for years to come. I do wish it came with a better picture book and maybe even the sounds the animals make. Would be willing to pay a little more for that.

My granddaughter loves animals. She loves to go to the zoo and to see animals on TV. I thought she would like these animal figures. The figures are very well made and realistic. Granddaughter didn't like the bear; I thought that might be because most of her toy bears are pastel-colored. She will play with the smaller ones along with her blocks or legos, but for the most part, they just sit on a shelf. I would only recommend these to a parent whose kid collects animal figures. They aren't breakable like porcelain or resin, and they are very nice to look at. If you look closely at them, you can see that they are imprinted with fur and feather marks to make them look real. I would definitely recommend this to a school teacher, because the toys appear to be very durable. I wouldn't say these are bad toys; they just weren't my granddaughter's "cup of tea".
