Pretend & Play: Animal Hospital This play set was extremely entertaining for my granddaughter. She was able to pretend to be a doctor, like one of her favorite cartoon characters, but ‘doctored’ things she loves, animals. I swear she’d play with the “Animal Hospital” play set everyday if her parents or I had the time and energy to play it with her. The ‘treats’ that it comes with to give the puppy are adorable, it also comes with ‘kitty treats’ but there is no kitty toy. However, there is a cat printed on part of the play set, but I would have liked to have seen an actual cat for her to play with, just a dog gets kind of dull for a child, unless the child has other animal toys, like my granddaughter did, to play with along with the little dog the set comes with. In general, the whole play set is really pretty cute, and my granddaughter absolutely loved playing with it and pretending to be an animal doctor. The "Jumbo Pets" goes great with this, so there is more animals to "doctor"

Animal Hospital for your aspiring Vet

GmaSuzann December 27, 2014

I have a granddaughter who wants to be a vet. I think this would be a very good set for any child who is interested in animals. It allows them to see some of the instruments that a vet would use and how they can set up their own little office. I was impressed with the number of accessories that came with it: a stethoscope, thermometer {that changes temperatures when you push it in}, pretend shot {that has a spring in it when you push it}, 3 pretend medicines {you can unscrew the lids and put them back on}, circular animal collar, two plastic bandages, a foot cast, patient charts {with ht. weight, date, diagnosis, pet name and owners name}, open and closed sign, appointment card, ear scope, crayons to write with, an eraser, and sturdy cardboard treats and bones. The X-ray cards didn't work as well as I thought they should. They just look black until you put them in behind the x-ray screen, but it is hard to see the dog’s bones. I was also disappointed that the area below the exam table doesn't have drawers that work. They just look like they do. You have to store all the items in the First Aid tote on the wall. There is a cute window that opens for check-in. The dog that came with the set is cute and will stay clean because it’s a soft plastic {and 6 in. long and 6 in. tall}. That was bigger than it looked in the picture. Because the patient chart allows for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and other, my granddaughter lined up all of her stuffed animals to be seen at her vet's office. Beanie Baby and Welkin dogs are the perfect size to fit the neck cone. It is adorable on the dog. This set has everything that an aspiring vet needs. I also like how the whole playset packs up into a flat carry-all

Perfect Vet Kit for Imaginary Play

MomOf3Gr8Kidz March 24, 2015

My daughter loves animals so I selected the Learning Resources Pretend & Play Hospital for her, and she absolutely loves it! The vetenarian kit comes with 34 pieces, including a very patient puppy for your child to doctor. Placing the cone on the hapless little dog resulted in the room being filled with lots of giggles, but after that was over my daughter quickly got to work. The kit includes a stethoscope (that you can actually hear with!), examining tools, bottles of medicine, a pretend shot syringe, animal collars, two plastic bandages, a cast, charts, and cardboard treats for good patients. An adorable bonus that my daughter discovered by accident are the x-rays, which show bones when you place them behind the black x-ray board! There is a tri-fold board that can be set up for an instant office, with handy little pockets to store all of the kit contents. There are also several write and wipe components that can be used over and over again for varied play. A few things to mention - the cute little pup is made of plastic for easy cleaning (it can also be used in the tub!), And the cone has certainly gotten its use in our house as it's been on every stuffed animal, and slow moving cat that can be found! A huge bonus to this kit is that once your child has finished playing with it, the portable hospital can be disassembled and kept in the zippered carry all for nice, neat storage. Months after purchasing it, the Learning Resources Pretend & Play Hospital continues to be a big hit in our house - and I'm sure it will be in yours too!

My Granddaughter loved this!

123too December 29, 2014

I picked this out for my 6 year old granddaughter. She is at that age where she wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up. On Christmas morning when she opened this, she was so excited! She instantly started opening up the box. She had so much fun with the puppy that is included. She was listening to it's heart, and she made sure he had all his shots! She checked the x rays to make sure he was okay, then of course she had to give him another shot. She sent him home with a collar around his neck. It was so cute watching her play. Then she went upstairs and brought down her web kin stuffed animals and started examining all of them! This was her favorite gift of all. I loved how they have all the little instruments included in this animal hospital, what a great idea! It all snaps together closed so she can carry it from one house to another. Her imagination was in over load! She made house calls to all her stuffed animals, oh what fun! If you want to give your child a gift that is truly fun and gets her imagination and creative juices flowing...this is the perfect gift for them. Watching her be so careful handling the sick animals and helping them to get better was priceless.

Super fun!

Stephanie4521 June 29, 2018

My 3 an 5 year olds LOVE animals so they were so excited to play animal hospital. The set taught them the names of the instruments vets use and how to have compassion for animals. We have a dog, and they practiced giving him check ups and taking care of his "ailments " . I am very happy with this play set and would totally recommend it!

Delightful Pretend Doggy/Animal Hospital!

2011walnut - Scott July 9, 2018

Overall, I was satisified with the Learning Resources Animal Hospital & my son seemed to enjoy playing with it after I explained everything to him. I would say it's on par with other similar animal caring kits. It's a small area in toys in my experience & it's nice to see a company still providing pure educational style toys in this day. Assuming the price was adequate I would most likely buy this kit since my son took a liking to it in the first 15 minutes. It took a minute to figure out how the pretend x-ray cards work, but I got a kick out of how you hold the one card over the other & then you can see the dog's internal bones on the card. It was a good idea overall, but I wish there were directions as I didn't see any in the box. It was more or less trial & error for the first 10 minutes. The stethoscope & the syringe toys were a hit with my son as well & he tries to check everyone in the house calling himself the doctor (since he is only 3 and cannot say veterinarian). I definitely felt like this toy was a breathe of fresh air, because I really want my son to use his imagination instead always relying on someone else or something to do tasks for him. He has been asking or bringing the animal hospital out about every other day to play with, so I would call it a success. He loves his real dog already & I explained to him that this was to teach him to care for his dog. Everything is pretend so I like to see my son use his imagination instead of just staring at a screen. Prior to receiving this product I was unaware of the Learning Resources Animal Hospital & afterward I would 100% recommend it to anyone looking for a decent educational toy that is unique in today's society.

Pretend & Play Animal Hospital is ADORABLE!

Mom of 4 July 19, 2018

We we're so excited when this came in the mail! My kids love playing doctor with pretend doctor kits so we were looking forward to what they would do with vet stuff! I have 4 children ages 9, 7, 6 and 3. We gave it to our 6 year old as a gift and he was honestly not that excited to get it at first. But after he opened it he loved it! The little dog that is included is super cute and the 6 and 3 year old loved all the little tools. My 7 year old like the X-ray part of the station but became bored quickly and moved on. Over all I would say that my 3 year old is getting the most use out of the Animal Hospital. He likes checking the little dog over and playing with the x-rays.

My son loves it!

Autumn July 2, 2018

This pet vet is adorable. The little dog that comes with it is so soft and cute. My 4 year old loves it and plays with it for hours. He enjoys pretending to be the vet/doctor and taking every stuffed animal and family member's heartbeat and temperature. I love that it all folds up into one carrying case so we don't lose the pieces. The only thing that didn't work is the stethoscope, it has a button on it and batteries, but it doesn't make any noises, so I think it might be defective. However, my son didn't even notice so he is happy.

Excellent pretend play toy

Mother and teacher June 21, 2018

My 3 year old loves this toy. He has fun giving checkups to all his animal dolls. I also love that it comes with a cute, quality puppy doll. My son was amazed at the x-Ray cards provided. The way the picture only shows up when you hold it behind the x-Ray sheet is nice. My one complaint is that the stethescope seems to be electronic (there's what appears to be a battery cover, and holes for a speaker, but the button on front of the stethescope doesn't press down. There are no instructions to explain and the box doesn't explain either.) Also I wish the slots to place the x-rays were wider, my 3 year old has a hard time sliding the cards through the slots without crushing the edges slightly as he tries to make them fit. I'm am also a pre-k teacher and my students would love a set like this. It's a great opportunity to develop pretend play skills, compassion (taking care of sick animals), social skills (one child pretends to be the doctor while one brings in their sick pet) etc.

Not what we anticipated

BooBerry2 October 27, 2014

We were excited to get the Pretend and Play Animal Hospital for our daughter because she loves animals so much and wants to be a Vet when she grows up. The packaging indicated that all the accessories were easily stored and carried in the carrier that folds out into a vetinarian's exam room. Unfortunately that is not true. There are many littlier pieces including fake medicine bottles, bandages, exam equipement and other small items, but there is only one pouch in the case to hold everything and not everything fits into the case. That is a shame. The more you put into the case the heavier it gets and it falls of the wall. Pretty much everything is held into place on the game with velcro which normally is wonderful but in this case it does not work well. There is only one animal a dog, and altough it is cute it would be nice if there was more than one animal, perhaps a kitten could be added to the mix. Overall, we would not purcash this game for our daughter. The board is flimsy and easily pushed over. The storeage is a complete nightmare and does not have enough room. I would rather have a box or medical bag to store everything into. And there are no instructions. Not good. The x-ray system on the game is confusing at first. We finally figured out you had to put in the piece of plasic and then the x-rays would go in after it or behind it and you were supposed to be able to see the x-ray. Unfortunately this too does not work well and you have to push on the plastic to see a glimpse of what is on the x-ray.. And in doing so, you end up pushing the whole game over and knocking everything down. there are slots that appear that you should be putting items into them, and velco all about the game that you have no idea what goes in them or on them. It would be nice if there was some instructions as to what each velcor strip did or each compartment was meant for you to do. Heck it would have helped to figure out the x-ray machine if there were any type of instructions included with the game. We understand the reasoning behind having the crayons in the game, but they are there for just one use and really a waste of time and money to be put in the game.
