WOW was I impressed! My 9 year old son & I played for over an hour with this product through various scenarios. He has no idea I was working in algebra, critical thinking, inferences, and other skills. This would be great for a resource room, homeschool teacher, tutor, or a small classroom. The product itself is WELL made of STURDY fiberboard covered in vinyl. It folds up neatly with a handle for carrying and has Velcro pockets that hold everything! The only thing I do differently is the write on wipe off signs-we use our own markers instead of the crayons provided. The crayons just aren't very neat. The other issue is the age suggestion of 3 and up. If your 3 year old still puts things in their mouth you probably need to put the play money up for a while-the change is quite small. All in all this is a durable, fun, and educational product.
So cute! Everything your little one needs to set up shop. This item comes with plastic change & paper money which is beneficial for school age children in learning to count back change or add money. Comes with lots of snacks (popcorn, ice cream, popsicles, cookies, donuts, cupcakes, pretzels. There is even a store front complete with Open/Closed sign. Made of sturdy cardboard and covered in vinyl. All the accessories help it to hold itself up on a less than level surface. Easy to store. Comes with a storage pouchs and a handle to carry it. Your little one is going to want to take this everywhere. There is so much to do they will be playing with this for many hours and for several years. Does come with some small pieces so be cautious with little ones who like to put things in their mouths. Also wish it came with a dry erase marker.
My kids love the Learning Resources Pretend & Play sets. This is our third one (we also have the vet and school sets). They have a blast pretending they work at a snack shop, or they set it up as a stand for their dolls. They'll often arrange all three sets as a little town, and they'll play with it for hours. This set comes with a variety of fun little snacks to set out (including some healthier fruit options!), pretend bills and coins to practice counting money, and signage they can create with the accompanying dry erase crayons and eraser. I love it because it encourages creative pretend play, helps them learn how to count money and make change, has pockets to store the pieces in, and folds up easily for transportation and storage. It is sturdy and durable. And it's really fun! Though they often play with this set alone or with each other, I also enjoy joining in on the fun with this one!
This playset is a reall "treat" (pun intended) for kids young and old. My son who is 7 enjoyed setting up his snack shop and selling to his sister and anyone else who passed by. This playset had lots of little fake edibles such as fruits, ice cream and cookies. He put it all together himself and wrote his name on the shop sign and placed the prices where he wanted. I loved the ease of how everything fit together with no problems. While he played I noted the details and colors as well as how things were made. Here are the pros and cons of this playset: Pros: The playset was sturdy and edges well sewn together, I saw nothing pulling apart. Cards included were thick and coated for writing on and cleaning. Lots of items to sell, good theme for a classroom for learning math, community helpers and taking turns. There are 2 pockets for storing money/coins/price cards and food items. Child can customize it by writing their name on the top as well as pricing own items using included crayons. Item folds together and is able to be taken places by use of handle. Just make sure everything is closed up tight inside. We had a few coins fall out. Cons: The food slid off repeatedly from the middle display shelf so we had to level it out using a small box. I could see a child get frustrated that it will not stay. Maybe felt would have helped keep it in place? Included crayons broke rather easy as you had to write kind of hard to get words onto the cards. Maybe Crayola would work since they are darker colored? an over all cute playset that was tons of fun...both my children love imaginary play and have grocery baskets, shopping cart, plastic food items and a little register that they pull out to combine with the snack shop. I even give them my expired coupons to play with. And though they are much older, 7 and 10, they both agreed they enjoyed this item and recomend it for young and older children.
Wow - this was really easy to set up - and really fun to set up! The little foods are cute, and realistic looking. And the money is all authentic looking, as well as the snack shop as a whole. The whole little snack stand is just really well put together, easy to set up and break down, and portable!!! Great toy all around - very educational; bright and colorful; and fun to play with! Teaches many skills such as counting, memory, organization, dexterity, and much more. ***Since the coins are actual size, I would not give this to any child under the age of 5. My opinion only.
My children play with the Snack Shop at their afterschool daycare. The Snack Shop is a favorite among many children. Not only does the Snack Shop have interesting play items, it teaches many things. It keeps multiple children entertained for quite a while. After months of use at the afterschool program, my children have the Snack Shop at the top of their holiday list. My 3-year-old loves the "cupcakes," my 6-year-old likes posting prices, and my 8-year old like sorting the goods. Fun!
As a former teacher, I am always looking for educational and yet fun toys or activities to enrich my children's learning at home. The Learning Resources Pretend & Play Snack Shop is one such toy. My seven year old son and five year old daughter did not stop playing with this 'shop' for over an hour when we first opened it up. They loved the funny money, the plastic cookies, apples, and other 'food' included. The kids set up their shop, and then while one was the shopkeeper, the other was the shopper. They exchanged 'money' for goods, and had so much fun 'selling' and 'buying'. They even willingly took turns playing the roles! This kind of toy/activity would be great for homeschoolers and Kindergarten through second grade. The enclosed plastic coins are on the small side, so I did not let my orally fixated five year old play with them, but other kids may not have an issue with it. Pictures of coins printed on card stock are also included, with the numeric value on the reverse side. This is great for teaching the value of the coins, and what they look like in a flashcard type of style. I also noticed that the shop itself is made of vinyl-covered heavy duty cardboard, and is very sturdy. You could reverse the shop and make it a puppet theater if you wanted to, which makes it quite versatile--and that much more fun and educational!
The Pretend & Play Snack Shop can provide hours of creative learning activities. The set includes foods from the main food groups: grains, fruit, vegetables and dairy; a clock, crayons for creating signs, other small items as well as a portable fold-up window. The best feature to me is the fold up window. It is well made and it has lots of storage space encouraging organization, creativity and clean-up skills. The paper money and the coins can be matched with the printed cards with monetary amounts on them. This feature encourages math, reading and sharing skills. However, I feel the coins and the play food are too small for any child under 8 years old. They can easily be a choking hazard.
There a lot of small pieces to this play set but my great-niece, who is three, loves it. She was content for over an hour playing with it which is unusual for her at her age. She has also played with it with her brother and there wasn't to much argument over who does what :-). It is also instructive in adding or subtracting but not so much for the youngest one. I would recommend this to anyone with just one or with more children. One thing I might mention, some of the pieces are small but I don't think they could be swallowed.
This definitely does not meet my expectations. While the food is made of durable plastic the craftsmanship is not the greatest. Some of the cardboard pieces are too big to fit in the plastic slot allotted for that certain piece. The paper dollars could be a little more durable, since kids this age sometimes destruct things. The coins are made of nice firm plastic and look very realistic. The teaching concepts that this product conveys is a fantastic start. This will definitely help kids learn how to know how much money they are spending when they buy different sweets and fruits from the snack shoppe. My niece loves playing with this toy and selling her goodies to me & Mamaw & Papaw. I'm glad she gets lots of enjoyment from it even though it's definitely not a quality toy in my opinion. As long as she's having fun being hostess that's all that matters in the long run. This product is a bonus if you pair it with other Learning Resource products such as the kitchen set which we enjoy very much also. Good for make believe, especially since children this age are very imaginative.
