Excellent sensory toy for little hands and cute shapes with soft edges very safe to handle. The tree house is a bonus and good storage.
Yes, this is such a great education use, it has great use outside, in the bathtub, hanging out in the living room, I have little girls about to be 2years old and 9 months old, we play a multiuser game with them called hungry babies, just put anything like small checker pieces as grab me foods with the little critters, gets my 2 year old to count and my 9 month old engaged in fine tuning her motor to her compose skills.
Educational Insights never disappoints! Spike the Fine Motor Hedgehog is an adorable toy for toddlers to learn colors, numbers and counting! My 2 year old has been obsessed with putting the hedgehogs inside the treehouse! He's also gotten pretty good at identifying the colors of each hedgehog. It's a simple toy with so many ways to play!
We love this educational toy. It's great for preschool aged children or those with special needs. It helps with counting and learning colors in a fun and engaging way. The toys themselves are made of good quality material and will last through didn't generations. This is my daughter's favorite toy at the moment. Excited to try other products they offer.
I am a pediatric occupational therapist and first time mom to a 1 year old. I really like this toy! I think you could use these for so many ages and in a variety of ways for sensory exploration; fine motor skills, and education skills such as counting, colors, etc. You can also use them for motor planning and problem solving skills including putting them in the tree, taking out, putting on and off the lid, staking, matching colors, etc. One thing I don't like is that they don't stack well. At this age, making towers and stacking toys is a lot of fun, and I can only stack 2-3 before they fall over. If the base of the hedgehogs was wider, they would stack much better!
My 18 month old loves playing with this toy. The hedgehogs have different numbers, shapes and textures. He enjoys identifying them by their numbers or colors and putting them in the house. There are many different ways to play with this toy and it is educational. I would highly recommend this toy. Hours of fun!
I played this game with my 4 and 5 year old. When I first received it, I was skeptical because the game seemed like it was a little too young for my children. As we began the activity, they were very interested and wanted to continue playing with it even after we were done with the suggested activities. I was very impressed how well it kept my kids attention, and was very eye opening how I need to work on describing textures to them. I would highly recommend this product especially for 5 and under. Like I said the only con (and only because I had to choose) was the hedgehogs were a little heavy so it made it more challenging to stack them. But it caused my kids to be more creative thinking about how they could stack them all together.
We love Spike the Fine Motor Hedgehog® Sensory Tree House! Love that is can be submerged in water and completely sanitized. It has many ways to play, counting, texture, colors, and number recognition. Textures for our littlest one 4 months, and lots of learning for our two year old.
My 18 month old likes to point out the different color hedgehogs and put them back in their treehouse. It has been a great toy to practice colors, textures, "in" and "out", "open" and "close". As he get older, we can work on numbers and shapes. I appreciate all the different educational uses for this toy.
Great toy to be interactive with your kids and teach them colors, numbers, and shapes. But if you want a toy they are gonna play with alone this is gonna get boring to them fast. I think it's great for kids around 1½-2 to help teach them while playing.
