Well I've got the older version of the charge which I use for fishing,I've had it for over 10 years well I thought I lost it as soon as I realized this I picked up my phone and ordered another one which to my surprise had been upgraded(replaceable wire cutters) anyway I winded up finding my old pair now I have a backup I'm now using the new charge to break it in and it's been a joy glad I got another one no regrets!
Gift for my husband. I had gotten him one years ago (not as many features on it as this one) and he used it almost every day. He forgot he had it and TSA confiscated it. I could tell he was really hating losing that. It was wonderful to see his face when a nicer one replaced the old. Again, he uses this almost every single day in some firm or fashion. Happy man!!!!
I was trying to get a belt pouch that would fit all of the accessories. Three extra bit sets and the bit extension. Unfortunately the bit extension never came as part of the set due to back order. Every time I selected the sets the bit extension was not included even though it was on the description.
this is my third. I use it for everything. I go no where without it. I am an electronic tech that works out on our racks and systems; away from my bench. My Charge is always in use with extra bits for the job and the extension. Many times the tools I use on the Charge are not used in ways they were designed. It is the most versatile tool I own. I'm glad you put scissors on it, sad the 2nd bit holder went away but sacrifices have to be made.
The Charge series has long been a favorite and continues to be a great tool. I purchased a bit extended set to go with my tool which seized the first bit I put into it. I can't remove the bit, even with the Leatherman pliers. The tool itself has a great warranty but there's zero warranty on accessories such as the bit extender. While I'm very disappointed in Leatherman's bit extender, the Charge+ is all I could hope for.
I have been carrying one of the original designs for three decades and always wanted one of the newer wave series... so why not spend a little more for the Charge plus? I am so glad I did. Perfect for EDC with the pocket clip and has become my new companion. Dont leave home without it. Thank you.
I had my original since 2008. Loved it and used it for 6 years working on Apache helicopters. 99% of what I needed to do could be accomplished with this badass tool. Well, I lost it. Don't know how, don't know where.... so I ordered a new one. Love that you can now have them personalized and the sheath is now a snap instead of Velcro. Hope I don't have to buy another one In 11 years but if I do I know which one I'll purchase again.
I prefer Leatherman to other similar brands, because it is made in USA and, I suppose, with union workers. Most Leatherman and similar products use stainless steel material in the knives, which I think is too soft to hold an edge. Try Frosts-manufactured laminate steel blades instead if you can incorporate that in your design. Otherwise: a superb and reliable tool.
The charge plus showed up in the box and everything looked great except the tip of the knife was broke off! I had already waited a few weeks for a credit voucher before I could order that one, so i haven't sent it in because I dont want to wait again. Other than that I have I loved it. Always have loved leatherman products.
This is my third multi tool, the first was a Kick that was replace by a Wingman. Maybe I was expecting more from the Charge but I was a little disappointed in some functionality. For starters, the pliers are not spring loaded yet my Wingman was--at half the price. My first job was using the cutters on 1/16 guy wires. Being brand new, my expectation was it would do a clean cut. That was not the case. it was frayed and being it was wound cable did not fit in the clamp. Other than that, it looks nice, Leatherman service is excellent and their warranty is unbeatable.
