Replacement multi tool. New one still has the same heft and solid build.
This Curl model has everything I use on my other leatherman tools and nothing that I don't. Great basic multi-colored that I think will fill most people's needs. As an electrician it's perfect for me. I have an original wave and a wave plus and there are a few tools I just don't use. The lighter weight and simplicity is awesome for an EDC.
I still have the first leather man tool made. It's basically worn out so I replaced it with the wave. Very nice tool The weight is not to much that you can just carry in your pocket. As I have never used the sheath. I really like the pocket clip. I would recommend any leather man tool as they are top quality
I purchased the tool to put on my day hiking pack. It has proven to be highly functional and easy to use. The cutting blade comes in handy for cutting open my dehydrated meals. The pliers I actually used to repair a broken clip and re-attach the strap on my chest strap for my day pack!!
This replaced my trusty SOG. Here is why it's better! 1. I can deploy the blade from the outside with having to open it up! 2. The blade has a lock. I almost cut my finger off using my SOG as the friction lock failed and closed under pressure. 3. I can sharpen the Blade on my curve! SOG, no can do because of the serration. 4. Pocket Clip, my Curve replaced my main folder! 6. Finally, it's USA made! A major plus
I appreciate the non-replaceable wire cutter blades more now. The Curl fits ok in all but my dress pants. The scissors are worth pulling out if needed. The diamond surfaced file is one of my favored tools. All in all, the Curl is in my current edc rotation, and I am glad to have it.
I just want to start with the quality of all my Leatherman tools are great.I think the one handed opening of the blade is like the original wave as well as the wide cut out to depress the lock. The curl has all the features that I use file, scissors and the bit exchanger. I love the pocket clip which is included as the weight is good for pocket carry.
This would be a 5 if the scissors were on the outside. I use scissors way more often then a file. When ever I need scissors I have to open it, and it's kind of awkward. Blade open so I have to worry about cutting myself. I Love the K4 scissors. Put those on the outside of the curl and put a file inside and you finally have the grail in MT IMO. Call it the Curl S. For now I will rotate this in with the K4, and squirt for my daily EDC MT. I do love it. Solid build! High quality. Would also like the bottle opener on the outside if you can somehow work that In with the scissors.
This has been an excellent upgrade from my old Sidekick, however, I really wish the file could be replaced with a saw and that they could make the pliers auto opening with an improved design over the Sidekick. I really enjoyed the auto opening pliers, but the quality just isn't there on the Sidekick, and one of the handles ended up breaking the spring mechanism and going limp. The quality of the Curl is clearly far above that of the sidekick and definitely worth the extra cost, in my opinion. I specifically like the better knife blade, sturdier pocket clip which can be easily replaced, stronger tool lock, and the bit holder for a far better screwdriver and multitude of options for that tool. The size and weight compared the Sidekick is very similar, making it an easy and comfortable transition for every day carry.
This is the third Leatherman i purchased over a month or so, and it's the 3rd to be returned. the QC is lax at best: the knife is dull and the grind is wonky. they took off too much steel so the thing leans backward. the wire cutters have a piece missing. it's not broken, it was done in production. the other 2 had similar QC issues. and $90 without spring pliers? i don't know if Leatherman once made great stuff and are now trading on a name, but there is less expensive multi tools that are better built and designed. there won't be a 4th attempt.
