First, this is my first ever Leatherman, I highly recommend this knife it's a really good knife good quality, the knife is sharp, it stays in place good when out. Can also order a pocket clip for it too
light weight, very sharp and easy to use one handed.
Quality pocket knife. I appreciate the precision of machining of the different tools. Easy to use, blade edge holding up well to this point. Better than any Swiss Army knife I ever had. If any improvements looked at, please add a pocket clip. Perhaps one could be designed for the opposite site of the release lever.
I have several leatherman tools and each one has a lot of functionality but they are too big to carry in pockets IMO and I don't like carrying something on my belt. Now they are kept in my cars for emergency purposes. So I started carrying Swiss knives but they have their limits. The Free 2 is a grand slam for me. Fits in my pocket well, the blade and tools are fairly simple to open with one hand and each is a good size for when the jobs requires some heft.
Picked up a new Leatherman Free 2 at the One Moto show in Portland OR. An impulse buy! So far I'm happy with my purchase. The blade is remarkably sharp, we'll se how long that lasts. Only a 2.5 inch blade, so it has limitations. EDC , except for air travel, where it would've most useful.
Not my first Leatherman and wont be my last, and not because they break but because I need one everywhere. The FreeT2 is built tough, hasn't bent or stripped screwdriver head, blade keeps edge for a long time. The weight is comparable to a SAK, easily pocketable and quick to open tools one handed. The only thing i would change would be the plastic spacers inside but im sure that would give it more weight.
The tool appears nice on first inspection. The belt clip mount spot is in a odd place for pocket carry. You have to flip the tool 180 degrees to access the blade if you use the ....optional.....over priced....belt clip. Because of this belt clip position, it makes it hard to open the knife as its size does not give it much room to grip comfortably but if the belt clip was mounted in a better spot, you could use that as leverage. The one hand operation is easy and works well for all tools except the blade. The tool comes with a large chunk of plastic as the filler. I would accept a heavier knife if it meant there was no plastic which wouldn't even be noticeable as I'm used to carrying the Surge.
If I am wearing pants this tool is in my pocket. It has replaced my Juice S2, which is just a bit too heavy for to make the same statement. (And, I can't recall the last time I needed to use the pliers.) All eight of the tools on the FREE T2 frequently come into play for me. The reason that I do not rate it five stars is that I find the tools harder to deploy than shown in the video. But, that could be just my problem. But, in any event, I highly recommend it.
It's a good little tool for carrying at work. Not bulky and comes in handy when you don't feel like going back to you're work truck for a screwdriver, for little jobs anyway. Knife is very sharp, tools are easy to deploy. I like i, would like other color options, otherwise it's a good tool to have.
I bought this to use as an EDC knife, but I found that it was uncomfortable to use, and I was barely able to deploy the blade 1 handed due to the design. Also, this knife should include a pocket clip. Having to purchase one separately means that to get the proper knife, you have to spend an additional $10.
