LEGO 76139 DC Batman 1989 Batmobile Building Kit (3,306 Piece)

It's been a while since I've done LEGO. In holiday in Japan I visited a LEGO store and couldn't walk out without buying the 1989 Batmobile they came with a limited edition smaller 1989 Bat mobile. I was going to compete the build in one sitting, but I wanted to enjoy the experience. I took it slow and took many pictures trying the build. Instructions were very clear and easy to follow. My partner and I built this together and found it ready to have one person find the pieces and follow instructions and the other complete the build. I found the perfect size display case that was second hand on Gumtree. It's as if it was destiny.

I saw this set some time ago online and wasn't really taken, as it looked a bit underwhelming in the photos. But when I visited my new local lego store (Southampton) there was one built up in the window and I just knew I had to have it. You simply can't appreciate the size of this thing from the photos. I guess that is because there are so few visible studs to gauge scale from. It is HUGE !!! and solid, which is a relief because the LEGO Tumbler is one of my most fragile models todate. Also while I love the tumbler in real life, because it is a rare batmobile in that it can really drive at speed and 'works', the Tim Burton 1989 batmobile is simply beautiful. Combining hard open tech details, aeronautic flavours and more than a little art deco chic. It was and IS stunning. Lego's adaptation of it is no less impressive. extracting subtle curves from a system known for being 'blocky'. This is another reason it underwhelms in Photos because you really can't read the subtle artistry in this set. And the build it self is a master class in so many ways. I can't recommend this set enough

Finally, a set I am willing to admit is challenging and properly rated. This is definitely one of the coolest sets I've ever built. It is extremely detailed and super sturdy. There is almost no repetition, which I like. It is definitely the best Batman set ever designed.

The Joker once said, where does he get those wonderful toys? And that's the Lego bat-mobile summed up in one. Absolutely enjoyed making this collectible piece and it brought back the happy child in me watching Michael Keaton Batman which to this day is my favourite. Couldn't be happier with the end product but like any big Lego piece, I took my time and did four bags a day to avoid overlaps and wrong pieces going everywhere, which sometimes they did as I have a tendency to carry on over the four bags a day and found myself finishing it on the fourth day. I just loved building it, hopefully going to invest in the batwing next.

The Batmobile arrived and it is a huge build. But it was so much fun. Building it up, all the little builds that form part of the much bigger picture, made it all the more fun. Some bits are tricky, my daughter tired helping, started at 630pm and finished it at 445am. But was fun, didn't wanna leave it, as I know my kids would complete it for me. Looks amazing on the shelf and the 89 Batman with cowl is a great addition as is the Jack Nicholson Joker and Vicki Vale.

Awesome set. I like the the overall shape and size of this batmobile because it fits with the rest of the technic series. Customized it with some LED lights in the front. Batman is ready to fight crime!

I've build a lot of Lego in my time, but this was, by far, one of the most satisfying and interesting builds. It's solid, looks great (amazing actually), and even after a really long time, I can happily look at it and admire it. PLUS I have a lot of other Batman sets so it looks amazing (i even designed my shelves around it). Thanks Lego!!!! More like this please

Finally brought this after taking 6 months to decide and boy I wasn't disappointed. Being a life long Batman fanatic I'm happy to say the attention to detail is amazing and the finished product looks incredible. Well worth the money. Not as hard as I thought to build. Massive well done to Lego for taking something from one of my favourite films as a kid and still now as a grown man and bringing it to life.

Absolutely amazing build with a fantastic price. Took a long time to put together but for a set with so many pieces and such an intricate body you can't expect anything else. Also, for the size of the set the sticker sheet is relatively small and the large panel sticker is on a black background rather than clear which makes it much easier to apply. Three exclusive minifigs are great and the new cape/mask piece for batman was fantastic however I would have liked to have seen a hair piece for the joker. Also the spinning stand for the car is a great addition and perfect for display.

Let me start by saying I absolutely love this model and it looks amazing when finished, especially when at next to the Tumbler. I love the turntable to display the model, that and the minifig stand are excellent additions to a very enjoyable build. I loved the bag per section method and hope that LEGO think about using that going forward. This would have been a 5 star review if it wasnt for some of the poor design of the product.There are too many areas where the slightest touch means parts fall off, especially the front and rear of the car as well as the areas around the side turbines. It makes moving the model a delicate operation when it really doesnt need to be.
