LEGO Architecture 21030 United States Capitol Building Kit, 1032 Pieces

My 10-year-old bought this and it is absolutely gorgeous! It came with a 175 page architectural book give in the background and how to put it together step-by-step.

I got this when it was at an incredible weekend sales from Walmart. Very happy with the price and the product.

It is slightly wider than a 15.6 inches laptop, which a perfect size to decor. It is not hard as long as to follow the step. I finished the 1900 pieces rocket in 6 hours, and this won't be long. I can't wait to see more real life objects in lego!! it is a great experience with good finished look. and i truely hope there could be some larger one, which means more details, like a 3000, or 5000 pieces? like a 8000 pieces to make The Palace Museum in Beijing??

Loved the finished product, been building a few pieces from the collection. I added lights to make it look a bit different. Easy to build and instructions were spot on. Did not come across any problems while building. Will be looking for something else to build now.

The US Capitol Building model was a surprisingly fun build. I expected there to be many repetitive steps in it like with the White House or the Louvre, but everything was just a little bit different and kept a fun amount of excitement as you saw how the designers executed the details. The really fun surprise was the detachable dome that reveals the rotunda below with the statues inside! Despite the large number of pieces, the set was a relative quick build. The base has a lot of details when it comes to the lawn, sidewalks, and flooring of the rotunda, but after that, the set is a relatively easy and exciting build. I own the entire Architecture series and this has quickly become a showstopper set among them all.

I really enjoyed building this set, however I was disappointed that the back of the building is basically cut off. I decided to divert from the instruction booklet and use my own pieces to create an 'updated' version, which includes a centered dome and the other half of the building, so the model is complete, not just a front view. what if they did this with the Eiffel Tower? Who wants an Eiffel Tower with only 2 legs? Still, it was fun to build, and I'm excited to turn it into something more detailed and technically correct.

Well, I'm sure most fans of this series welcome another large piece count set. The build was easy enough. But, I can't get past how the dome looks. It looks like something from the Ottoman Empire that belongs on a building in Ankara. Over all, I like this set. But the dome? Yuck.
