Whilst it has great features and I love the playability it could probably of been better with a cargo truck rather than a bank truck. But this really stands out when it passes around the table
Brilliant set with the new features which means less wiring in the train unit and if you use your phone to control it less batteries needed. Currently have it set up and running in my living room tied in with 1x 7895 1x 7499 and 60098 heavy haul train set. I know want to purchase the new battery/receiver for the older train. I have also added set 60169 to the setup which ties in well.
This is a great set for kids to spend the entire Christmas Day with. The pieces are fun to build and have lots of great little details to it. Once they are built, there are so many different storylines that can be played. The crane is super fun to operate, and of course, driving the train with the remote control is even better! The robber and the money transport add extra storylines for play. The signal tower is great too, because it helps the train play. AMAZING: The train tracks WORK WITH MY OLD TRAIN TRACKS from 30+ years ago! Just mount the old and the new on a base plate. There will be a half-a-nupsy gap, but thats okay. Just use a 1x1 flat piece at the end of the old track to keep it up on the same level.
I have a cargo train set from the late 80s, early 90s but felt that the bank cart and car was needed so had to grab this set for my planned city build. Lovely set with great playability or just great for display.
When my older brother talked with me about the family gathering to purchase such an expensive Lego for a little bopy's 4th birthday, I was ready to do my part. Being a lego fan for almost 37 years (i'm 40, so for how long I remember myself!), and being the main guilty party that my nephews and niece for loving lego (they are 4, 7 and 9). For several reasons the build process was up to me and my older brother, but the look on the Pedro's (the birthday boy) face meant we need to get it build on a fast pace, and it was worthy! As soon as the train was build he started to prepare the tracks to race with the other train set that he already has (the 60197) . The story been told now for the review... although a bit expensive, we can see where the money goes, with over 1200 parts and a great design with several features on all sections it means that the playability will last for a long time. Ideas for a near future (let's hope it happens) It would be great to see a train station , maybe inspired on the train station on the harry potter 2019 train, something looking XIX century arquitecture of 1960's one, with 2 our 3 train tracks (like a normal train station)! The second idea would be a cargo truck with several containers for the train. Best regards Adriano
It was one of the best builds I have ever had, and the final result is great! Took about 4.5 hours to build. It's great that the power function can be controlled by phone too. The play experince is pretty good but be careful as some parts are slightly fragile but most bits are pretty sturdy. Would highly recommend builds of all experience levels and also people building MOCs as it has lots of great train parts.
It looks really cool. If you have the older red freight train, they go really well together. The colour looks really good on the train. The magnets sometimes come off a bit too easily when pushing the train around. Overall, a great train that is fun to play with.
Great set, really enjoyed ourselves, my boy and I. We are very happy with this set as we both like trains :) 1 star deduction for this set is for its "hungry" battery management. It drained premium Duracell batteries in 7-8 hours. But no other complaints.
Good set and will be worth a lot of money one day. My kids love legos and it keeps them busy for hours.
A nice looking, practical and fun train with plenty of track. My 10 year old son has had this set for 4 months now and not only is it a nice “special occasion” Lego set for playing with when mates come over, he loves it set up in his bedroom with his other Lego display pieces. The blue tooth setup works easy and although a rechargeable setup would be preferred (hint hint Lego) the batteries last plenty of time
