Great train

oggie381 July 11, 2022

Whilst it has great features and I love the playability it could probably of been better with a cargo truck rather than a bank truck. But this really stands out when it passes around the table

Brilliant set with the new features which means less wiring in the train unit and if you use your phone to control it less batteries needed. Currently have it set up and running in my living room tied in with 1x 7895 1x 7499 and 60098 heavy haul train set. I know want to purchase the new battery/receiver for the older train. I have also added set 60169 to the setup which ties in well.

Great building and play experience

FinlayandPapa December 27, 2019

This is a great set for kids to spend the entire Christmas Day with. The pieces are fun to build and have lots of great little details to it. Once they are built, there are so many different storylines that can be played. The crane is super fun to operate, and of course, driving the train with the remote control is even better! The robber and the money transport add extra storylines for play. The signal tower is great too, because it helps the train play. AMAZING: The train tracks WORK WITH MY OLD TRAIN TRACKS from 30+ years ago! Just mount the old and the new on a base plate. There will be a half-a-nupsy gap, but thats okay. Just use a 1x1 flat piece at the end of the old track to keep it up on the same level.

Great city set

Mikey August 19, 2025

I have a cargo train set from the late 80s, early 90s but felt that the bank cart and car was needed so had to grab this set for my planned city build. Lovely set with great playability or just great for display.

Great Fun for All

DH November 15, 2025

A really fun set! Challenging but not too difficult to build for appropriate ages. The battery option is outstanding to let the train move on its own. Hours of fun between the build and the play. Using other LEGO sets, the "village" is endless!

Best Recent Goods Train but improve electrics

AmbassadorComplexDolphin April 17, 2025

This train set is the best goods train in recent years, mainly because the vehicles and features can be used easily in multiple around a layout. Signal cabins and level crossings can be similar in several places, the vans can be a fleet, the wagons make easy rakes. The cranes can be paired for breakdown train and the locomotives can run in multiple on the same channel. It also uses bricks to build the train and avoids a single-piece front end. The bricks are more versatile for reuse in different models. So good that I bought 4 of this set. Something we really want is the ability to run two motors from one port or to run two motors in opposite directions from one command with the handset, without using a phone. That would enable a single loco to have two motors for more power and a longer train. That was easier with the previous Power Functions system. Please make the electrics more versatile, perhaps add a 2-port lead with reverse option switch for one of the ports, so we can drive "simple" motors like that. The lead could look like a train motor as its ID (pins 3-6) and just reverse the motor connections on pins 1&2. Without that versatility, people turn to 3rd-party products and you lose market share. The same goes for needing a LiPo battery for the hub. Power Functions had the 8878 LiPo battery but Powered-Up is back to unsustainable cells. So a great train set but an electric system that needs improving.

This is what my 5 year old thinks of this train.

PrinceCleverRaisin101 August 27, 2025

It looks really cool. If you have the older red freight train, they go really well together. The colour looks really good on the train. The magnets sometimes come off a bit too easily when pushing the train around. Overall, a great train that is fun to play with.

Great Product!!

EarlJumpingWalrus June 2, 2021

It was one of the best builds I have ever had, and the final result is great! Took about 4.5 hours to build. It's great that the power function can be controlled by phone too. The play experince is pretty good but be careful as some parts are slightly fragile but most bits are pretty sturdy. Would highly recommend builds of all experience levels and also people building MOCs as it has lots of great train parts.

Great set but...

Dinko December 20, 2019

Great set, really enjoyed ourselves, my boy and I. We are very happy with this set as we both like trains :) 1 star deduction for this set is for its "hungry" battery management. It drained premium Duracell batteries in 7-8 hours. But no other complaints.

Worth it.

Good set and will be worth a lot of money one day. My kids love legos and it keeps them busy for hours.
