I have purchased this Lego train for my grandchildren for Christmas. It is already wrapped and under the tree. They all like Lego's and trains so in my opinion this is a win-win gift for all of them. I am looking forward to having them open it on Christmas morning and spending time putting it together with them.
My son has been wanting this train for a very long time! Glad we got it BUT you definitely need more tracks! We were lucky to have tracks from another set.
First start with LEGO that can move around, upgrade to LEGO with remote, finally now going towards LEGO control by all or remote control. Awesome set my kids will Love to play with it. Only down thing is if only come with more tracks. Max speed Train will flip over, so I also got another set of extended tracks.
This is very well designed and everything. but why would a train look like that? I think it should've been designed with another train engine. Otherwise everything is reasonable! But how do I but the headlights?
I was very satisfied with this product, I only have 1 complaint it arrived 1 piece short.
I bought this for my 11 year old Grandson, I thought this would keep him busy for a few hours, he finished it in a hour and half. Beautiful set and he loves it. I recommend it for any Lego enthusiast. It is a beautiful train and accessories can be added , like more track and people.
The set went together easily in an afternoon. However I feel it needs a second engine car at the back to make it look finished. I was disappointed to see the Led headlights 88005 are an optional extra and found the bluetooth pairing sequence a little confusing initially. The LED flashing sequence and colours are not explained anywhere. Purple - ready to pair. White flashing - scanning channels for other unit. Solid colour - units paired.
Visually, the most beautiful train made by LEGO (in the City theme), and by far. But to be honest, it is quite the only positive point I find to this train..... The value for money is not very appealing. If you plan to play with it, make sure to buy a ton of batteries, for it is extremely energy hungry. And I mean it, extremely ! The minifigs you get are very basic. I would have like at least 5 or 6 more minifigs with this set. And another passenger wagon wouldn't have been too generous from LEGO. My best advice for you: Don't buy this train, unless it is discounted at a very lower price.
Got this for my 5 year old son who adores lego and trains. Pros: 1. Nice looking train. 2. Not too hard to build (son did most of it himself, following the instructions). Cons: 1. Battery pack drains out 8 batteries in about 1 hour or less. Had a really unhappy 5 year old once that happened. Replaced batteries 2x but about 1 hour is all you get. I have now read or heard this complaint numerous times elsewhere and hope LEGO fixes the issue. I recommend reinstating the old system, or leave it up to the customer by leaving out the power system and dropping the price accordingly, then bringing the old power functions system out of retirement. 2. Bluetooth system not so great for kids. Every time you have to hold down a button on the remote and a button on the train for 10 seconds simultaneously for it to pair. Also have to hold both buttons down (though not simultaneously) to turn it off. Alternatively you can pair with your mobile device, but again, if it's a child playing, they likely don't have their own mobile device. 3. Only 3 cars. For the price you pay, would hope to get at least one more. Or at least make the station a little more substantial. 4. Not a lot of track provided. Again, given the price, would hope for more.
i like this set, i just feel that the new system isn't as good as the old system. i liked it when you could just turn the train on, set it to a speed, and send it off. now, you have to be with it, because if it goes round a wall, it looses signal. also, this uses more batteries and lasts for less time. i have the old system of trains at home, and i use those trains far more often than the new on. I would prefer it if you could go back to the old system.
