LEGO City Yellow Mobile Construction Crane Building Toy, Creative Birthday Gift for Kids, 60409

My son bought me this for Christmas and I absolutely love it . It was a nice building experience and looks great on display. I had the 855 technic crane when I was 10 in 1980 this new set made me feel like I did back then very happy 😊

It's exactly what you expect based on the photos. The color pops so much more in real life, and it is deceptively large. It's as stable as you can get not being a purely Technic©️ set. The toilet is also incredible and I want to make a bunch more now.

From my experience of buying, making and operating this Lego Construction Mobile Crane. It has its positives and negatives hence why I have given this one a 4 star rating. The set is not easy nor too difficult to build but it took me two days at a weekend to build. Whilst this is fine for me. There is 1116 parts in the set and some parts are technic parts that is more for the functional features of the crane if anything. Once built and it comes with some minifigures that are colourful and match the set nicely. You can use the two dials to operating the crane arm and the second dial operates the hook winch. However these on my example were a bit tight and I had to move dial slightly back to loosen up the tension. But it is solid and it will not slop or droop about which is what I like about the functionality of the crane. There is two pegs to secure the crane arm into place when in use. You get four legs that extrude out and clip into four plates when the crane is in use and that makes it realistic and a very impressive machine to look at. The portable toilet that comes as a load for the crane to move about is okay but I would have loved it if Lego had supplied a concrete pipe (obviously not the real thing lol) or a structure steel beam as a load to add alternative scenarios to the playtime with this set. That aside, I really love this set but the reason I would only recommend this set for intermediate/experienced builders is due to the higher volume of parts that might be overwhelming for newcomers into Lego builds. If you do like Lego construction vehicles though, this one is a must because it does offer a nice amount of play time and even when not set up. This 10 wheeled monster is a beauty to look at (or at least in my experience). Recommended.

Quick but not too quick. This set was fun to build, and functional to boot. The crane swivels, extends, drops the anchor hook, had extendable support legs... it's like it's smaller counterpart only bigger and better. At roughly $.09/piece it's a REALLY great value for the money. Plus it goes well with the excavator set released in June 2024, and looks like there is at least one more set in the lineup coming Jan 2025. I very highly recommend this one.

This is an amazing construction crane design. Great execution of cabling, outriggers, telescopic boom, and counterweights. This was very enjoyable build. Lego did a great job of capturing the essence of this mobile crane. I wish it could have been sponsored by one of the current manufacturers.

Ever since this was released I was waiting for it so I got it for Christmas along with the excavator and the build is just awsome and it reassemblees the actual crane. It's a great set but it could use and extra set of wheels to make it a nine axel. Otherwise it's great.

This new set is awesome, I like the high level of detailing in this model' the playability and as a display piece but the one thing that gets me every time is that there's nothing extra to accessorize the cranes with like a lattice luffing jib and this crane boasts an excellent opportunity to have one by placing the luffing cable reels on the weight ballast and attaching the lattice to the technic holes at the front of the main boom.

I got another set before with the line of the "elephant" branding. Please make this brand the goto for construction like the logos for trains, airport, space and the mnost famous of them all Octan! The brand just looks awesome on these sets and gives the feel of real life construction brands. For the set itself, its a lovely build that can be put on a shelf or played with just as great. Maybe a bit big for chiuldren since that comes with larger pricetag but it does not hinder playability at all.

Had it not been for that, I don't think I would have ever put a Lego Build together in my life. I have built your basic tower but never thought about an actual project. Let me tell you, do it! You will have so much fun. It's challenging, calming, fun and motivating. It brought our family together to sit and do something we all enjoyed. There are 1160 pieces in this one and they are in numbered bags to help guide you. There is also a book to help show you how to build your Lego Design. My son loves construction vehicles so doing the crane was perfect. We are having a blast and building our crane while spending time together. I may have found my new relaxing hobby.

The mobile construction crane is super fun to build! It is a lot of fun to play with, but it can be hard to pick up the potty without manually attaching it to the hook. The knobs that control the arm are hard to turn, but this can be fixed if you use one or two power functions motors, which are really easy to attach. Unfortunately, the yellow stickers are the wrong shade of yellow, but it is not extremely noticeable. This set is very long, which can be a challenge to display, but if you can find a shelf, I would definitely recommend getting it!
