LEGO Creator 3in1 Sunset Track Racer 31089 Race Car Building Set

3 different vehicles can be built with this set. My grandson was very happy for us to assemble this together. Stays together well once assembled, so it can be played with.

I've built a variety of LEGO car kits, this is one of the best. An excellent design for this build, solid feel, very nice lines to the car and just a fun kit to put together. I added decals of my own to customize the finished look but it's great without them. As you build this kit you begin to see the attention to detail that accounts for the great design lines and solid feel. For what is in the box this was an exceptional value.

I love these 3in1 automotive sets ! And for the price (24CAD), it is probably the coolest set of all. Very beautiful. And all 3 building possibilties are awesome :)

Arrived quickly and great product

Fun set! It it most fun in car mode, as it has some solid rubber tires to race it on the floor!

Other than the colors they used, its a decent set, descent price...

The Sunset Track Racer is, shall we say, just as the title of this review states. For a model at a scale of only 8 bricks wide, it does a very good and amazingly accurate job of replicating a real-life LeMans Prototype racecar. I love the colors, especially: the white and dark blue pattern would look striking on a real racecar, and the orange stripe down the center of the nose is reminiscent of British racecars. I like how the steering wheel in the cockpit tilts up to allow a minifigure to sit inside, then tilts back down into an extremely realistic position given the amount of space in there! I tried, however, to fit a minifigure with a modern helmet and visor, but the roof wouldn't close properly; but when I placed a minifigure inside with an old, 1970s-era helmet, it worked perfectly! I don't know if the throwback helmets from the Benny's Space Squad set would work or not. My only real complaint is the fact that the wheels are mounted on 9-brick-long axles, which doesn't allow the model to take curves as easily as it would if they were mounted on, say, two-brick-long, half Technic peg/half axle elements. I don't know why the designer chose axles; maybe I would have to build the speedboat model to find out. All told, this model is well deserving of the 4-Star rating which I gave it!

I recently bought this prototype style race car because I liked the look of it to the point I had to have it. I collect cars from lego creator expert and technic that stand out to me and this one was a winner for me even though it's smaller than what I usually build. Regardless, It looks good in the picture but even better in person. I have not built the other 2 builds that are part of this trifecta but the main model still seems like its going to be the best.

This is a nice set, purchased for a Christmas present and unfortunately the box arrived badly damaged (a big hole in the front of the box). Would give a higher rating if it had arrived in better condition. Very disappointing especially since it was purchased as a gift.
