This set is absolutely amazing and with the added BOOST operation makes it even better my 9 year old absolutely loves it, I think we will struggle to find somewhere to store it though as it is a big big set. The build was challenging at times when it came to the intricate parts in regards to the operation of the chain lift etc. I would recommend you to not rush and read every page of the manual carefully because one mistake could mean your taking bits apart to correct the track supports are secure in most places although could potentially be slightly more secure but apart from that it's fantastic and the attention to detail well ticket/photo booth, juice stand, little gates on the waiting area, cotton candy stand and a do not stand up sign exactly like a roller coaster in real life
Well I hesitated buying this Lego kit. I shouldn't have ...! Take your time as it's a pleasing build with lots to do. Great use of colour with an excellent attention to detail. There's just too much to mention. Best to build it on a board as it need some rigidity. I purchased a piece of laminated plywood to build it on. Also buy yourself a Lego motor and Lego battery box. Cranking that turn wheel will wear you and your (grand)kids out. This is a BIG kit and looks great left on display. Walk in, flick the switch and let the carts go ‘round and ‘round...! Do yourself a favour. Just buy it. You can't take your money with you. Enjoy it while you can.
My hubby bought me this for my new years eve gift (last year bought me the vw beetle, and I loved it) only been building for a year, and in the past year we've built various star wars pieces, vw beetle, carousel, camper van and then the limited edition 1969 saturn v rocket, and Porsche which we loved, I'm totally addicted (I was obviously a lego deprived child) so this year the roller coaster.....absolutely love it, loved building it, best ever lego piece in my opinion, I've even been sad enough to put various star wars characters in the carts so they can have a fun day out too hahaha
I was saving money for this set since I saw it for the first time. The set is really great. Me and my son enjoy playing with it. I just wish I could run in those carts for all day. I also enjoy adding motor - then you just watch and smile. It brings child out of you. Building experience is not so great as it was at Batman or Barracuda bay set, but playability is on top level ( to much repeating parts). I recommend it to everybody.
I got this for my kid when they were ten or so; as any parent knows, it's important to get kits that are too advanced for the child, so they get bored and leave you to have all the fun. Plan successfully completed, I got to enjoy most of the build while outsourcing the simpler (and more repetitive) parts to sprogling whenever they wandered over to check on my progress. It's a huge build and does take time. Unfortunately there are parts that are pretty dull - a 230-link chain, for instance, or pillars made up of over 550 identical white cylinders - but they're there to hold up a lot of fun. Once built, and I say this as someone who usually enjoys the build and then puts the things away in a cupboard for all eternity, there's something very satisfying about sending off a coaster and watching it zip down the track. It's like having a Newton's Cradle on your desk, but much bigger and more fun.
I was so excited when I saw this set was for out. As a coaster enthusiast and a Lego Fan it was a must have. Glad I did. This set was so fun to build with my 9 year old. It was a great STEM teaching. I went ahead and bought the M-Motor an XL- Motor (overkill I know but man do those trains get up the lift fast) and battery pack. Also bought a controller and IR receiver to operate the chain and station wheel. My 2 toddlers love to watch the trains go around the track. This set is big, so if you plan on the purchase, make sure you have the space to showcase it.
This set has lots of repetitive steps. Building up all those columns was not fun, but I like the formwork looks this set has. That being said, I do think this set should be designed more stable! I feel like they could have used more technics pieces to achieve that! Note: The Statue of Liberty does not come with this set! I think It is a neat addition.
It was a lot of fun to build. Even though it has a lot of repetition. It's not crazy repetition like some other sets I've built. The set is built sturdily and can be easily transported in one piece. I love the little accessories and kiosks added to give it a more theme park feel. The track looks amazing and is very well designed. The biggest flaw for this set is definitely the lift chain. I had to recount the number of pieces about a dozen times. If you have the Ferris Wheel and the Carousel, then you absolutely need to get this one.
Got this for our son, age 11, for Christmas 2018. The order process was fine and delivery was great, product arrived without any damage. Our son was excited to get it and started building it immediately, aroud 8 hours over a few days. The instructions were pretty simple to follow, I only had to help a few times, and we only had one major error when the build was complete. The most frustrating part was that there were many pieces missing that we had to raid his other legos for. I beleive we neded up with around 20 key peieces that were missing. Out of the 4k+ that is not too bad. Just be prepared for that. Overall I would recommend this. It can be challenging, for an 11 year old, but it helps them perservere when the going get tough or think of alternate ways of dealing with problems, however one mistake caused a melt down when the roller coaster would not work right, until we fixed it and luckily the mistake was in the second half of the second book of instructions.
It's a counterfeit of the original LEGO. Roller coaster. Missing parts, the coaster does not line up to use. Look at my picture, the box it comes in is wrong does not say Lego anywhere on it, and says 6 not 16 —- but the description and price said Lego.
