LEGO Creator Expert Roller Coaster 10261 Building Kit 4124 Pieces

When I got my Lego freight train set as a child many years ago, I used to put bricks and books under my track to turn it into a roller coaster. Since then I have always wanted a proper Lego roller coaster set. The set can be built in two halves at the same time. I have experienced this in other sets and it should be advertised because it makes building with a friend or family member so much easier and more fun. I built this with my partner and we clipped the two halves of the ride together at the end. Luckily I already had some medium power function motors handy, so I used one to power the chain lift and rollers. I powered the motor with the train controller from my childhood train set. The set has a lot of play value as it comes with a load of mini figures, some stalls and the ride platform. Cars can be stopped and started from the ride platform using the tyre mechanism. If un-motorised, the chain lift can also be hand cranked which adds to the fun. The only con to this set is the usual one where it has some stickers instead of printed bricks. Given the price of the set it should have been all printed bricks. The model is huge and impressive to look at, making it both a great standalone piece or a standout part of a fairground. Overall I am very impressed with this set and have had great fun making and playing with it!

Spent a lot of time on this and really am happy with the outcome. the rollercoaster in action is fast and fun, especially with the power functions add on. Overall worth every penny. could use a few more mini characters for the second car, but its easily fixable.

What a fun tine I had building the Roller Coaster. I love that feeling with LEGO when large, odd pieces you construct end up fitting perfectly in the structure and bringing it all together. Every angle makes sense; every little hook or peg is there for a reason. And, the coaster works perfectly! Smooth and lifelike. Not a monotonous build whatsoever. Even building the pillars vary from unit to unit, and the resulting structure is surprisingly sturdy. Definitely spring for the Power Functions - it's a blast letting this run itself. My favorite LEGO build yet.

This was a great and fun build. It has great play value as I have been giving all the mini figures around my house a ride. The only thing I wish LEGO would have done differently is to add a double base. I used my own random base pieces to put one on and it made the entire unit much more stable for moving. Also, some mini sand bags for testing the first run would be nice, and was needed, as you will see from my video of the First Run.

This is a great build. Lots of fun. Get the Boost with it and you can fully automate the coaster with your iPad.

I got this for my kid when they were ten or so; as any parent knows, it's important to get kits that are too advanced for the child, so they get bored and leave you to have all the fun. Plan successfully completed, I got to enjoy most of the build while outsourcing the simpler (and more repetitive) parts to sprogling whenever they wandered over to check on my progress. It's a huge build and does take time. Unfortunately there are parts that are pretty dull - a 230-link chain, for instance, or pillars made up of over 550 identical white cylinders - but they're there to hold up a lot of fun. Once built, and I say this as someone who usually enjoys the build and then puts the things away in a cupboard for all eternity, there's something very satisfying about sending off a coaster and watching it zip down the track. It's like having a Newton's Cradle on your desk, but much bigger and more fun.

I bought this item through a reseller as it’s been retired for a few years now and while I paid a significant premium, it was so worth it. The coaster is super fun to build, the tracks are so much fun and the power up connection made it so much cooler. I’ll have to find the Loop coaster now in the hopes it’ll be just as fun.

It’s a counterfeit of the original LEGO. Roller coaster. Missing parts, the coaster does not line up to use. Look at my picture, the box it comes in is wrong does not say Lego anywhere on it, and says 6 not 16 —- but the description and price said Lego.
