LEGO DC Batman Batcave Clayface 76122 Building Set (1037 Pieces)

LEGO has been focusing on Disney franchises this year with the releases of Disney theme parks, Marvel, and Star Wars kits. They have also partnered with DC Comics to bring the Caped Crusader to live. In fact, at Legoland San Diego, I saw a section devoted to Batman, his friends, and foes. With over 1000 pieces, it took about 4 hours to build with my son, meticulously discussing the parts and the individual components that make up the Batcave. It comes with 6 of the popular mini figures, including Batman, Bruce Wayne, Robin, Batwoman, Catwoman, and Two-Face. Of course, since this set is called "Clayface Invasion", a big Clayface figure is included to terrorize Gotham City. Its hands and jaws can be opened and closed. Helping to defend the city, the Batcave comes with a command center and rotating chair for Batman to view the 5 screens from. There also is the detachable "transformation tower" that allows Bruce Wayne to "change" into Batman after getting called by the Commissioner on the red phone. That's a pretty neat part of this kit! Next, you will find a prison whose jail door literally explodes outward to allow the inmate to escape, prompting Batman and team to enter the Bat-Tank to go on a chase with its shooting missiles and rotating missile launcher. Lego Kit 76120 (DC Batman: Batman Batwing and The Riddler Heist) is mentioned on the product packaging in an effort to sell the very cool-looking Batwing as an addition to the set. With all that said, I am a bit disappointed that the color scheme is quite uninspiring. Frankly, Batman is the Dark Knight, and everything in his universe is dark and monotone. It is a fun set to play with, however. Overall, this is a great kit for the kids with the quality that LEGO is known for, and with the inclusion of the popular characters, makes for hours of play for the Batman fan.
