Big slice of fun

Darth Tidiot May 18, 2026

I had a blast making this kit, only the second Lego set and the second Star Wars Lego set since I was a youngling. Of course I read the negative reviews and some of them make some good points, the absence of the short lived TIE fighter Gift With Purchase, the minifigs being run of the mill and that it wasn't a sphere. But honestly the finished article looks busy enough without the fighter, the figures do the job and a sphere would have hid the interior, been too big and heavy and way too expensive. You have to see this as primarily a display of the iconic interior locations from A New Hope and Return of the Jedi, packaged into a neat cross section slice. I had great fun building the Death Star over a few months, bIt by bit and taking shots of the construction as I went along. All the pieces were there, plus some extras that came in useful for light customisation, the instructions were clear in the fantastic booklets with pics from the films. There were plenty of minifigures, but if you're showing several scenes simultaneously you could do with a few more. To add to the three Skywalkers and two Solos, I scrounged up from various sources another three Vaders, three more stormtroopers and one more each of Obi Wan Kenobi, Chewbacca, R2D2 and C3PO. To bring the set to life I added a top quality light kit. If I do have one criticism, it is that the finished article is heavy and quite flimsy in parts. Each level is held on by minimal studs, and some parts, especially the inverted build lower sides have a habit of falling off. I'm going to use clear duct tape on the sides and rear to reinforce without damaging the pieces. So overall verdict - it costs a lot, but there's a lot of it. It's enormous fun to build and looks awesome, especially if you add lighting. It is going to have pride of place in my den until my granddaughters are old enough to play with it. But that's a long time to go and in a galaxy far away.

Fantastic Set

EarlDelightfulWasp103 April 30, 2026

Very impressed with the set, overall. The only major downside is the number of stickers. The control room is especially problematic, since almost every surface has a sticker applied. Printed pieces would be a much better alternative, even if it increased the price of this already pricey set.

incredible build

HumorousComputer086 June 20, 2026

where do i even start, this set has to be one of the best Lego sets I've ever built by far! I must admit at first when it was announced to the public i was skeptical but it grew on me. i watched tons of reviews on TikTok and Youtube because i was really wanting the set. over time i saved up money for the set and i bought...Now i must admit the price isn't cheap at all but if you save over time then its 100% worth it the only downside i would have to pick would be the 50 stickers but apart from that its brilliant. It towers over all my Lego sets such as UCS Falcon, the Barad dur and Avengers tower and its one of my top three Lego sets by far. There's tons of details inside and out and so many unique scenes from the film. i would say if you want the set and cant afford it straight away please save up for it you will not regret it!

New largest set ever Deathstar? Love it!

Streetvan1980or1977or1997 February 5, 2026

For my age sets are more about building and displaying than anything. I got Deathstar II when it came out and was then the largest set ever and loved it. So when this was announced I had to have it. It’s fun to build and the size is so impressive. Tons of Minifigures really turns this up to 11! For younger fans maybe it’s not the best set for playing with. But then again I guess I don’t really know. I personally had tons of fun with it and love looking at it! I wish they made it a few thousand more pieces and had it be like a half globe shape. The slice of the Deathstar shape displays well though. Biggest set ever should always be the Deathstar! One day they need to come out with a globe shaped ultimate Deathstar with like 60 minifigures and 4 times as many prices as this set!

Excellent set!

SenseiFantasticParrot January 8, 2026

Like everyone I hate the stickers but I don't see how it could have been avoided for such a detailed set. There are many fun Easter eggs to discover as you build. For me this made the build very fun. I own 16 UC sets and this was one of my favorite builds. The Millennium Falcon and AT AT are still my favorite display pieces but this is in my top 5.

Mid-Build Review

NicestKnowledgeableJacket January 9, 2026

I have not completed the build yet, so this is an initial impression and review of the experience so far. 1. The outer box design is beautiful and creates excitement for the product inside. Love the artwork. 2. I’m not a fan of the new inner box design with overhanging sides. It feels more flimsy…not limited to this set. Also saw the same design with another new set, so it appears to be the way Lego is going. 3. Instructions…Paper version aren’t anything special. Just normal. Some good pictures and content at the front. I haven’t seen any special notes or content in the build steps, I don’t know if there are some later on but I’m missing that so far. I’m on Bag 10. 4. I think my biggest disappointment was that the builder app didn’t have the instructions in 3D. 5. Like others I would have appreciated more specially printed bricks over stickers. All that being said…I am loving the set and the build! My mini figures (the ones I have already let out of the bag) are already having fun playing while my husband and I are building. I’m super excited to see this project come to life!

Cool collection of scene

bramp February 7, 2026

My wife and I spent about 20 hours building this over the past month. Pros: * Cool collections of scene * Lots of details for Star Wars fans Cons: * Very expensive * Quality - though the build we found two missing pieces, and one paper instruction book was missing 50 pages! (And sadly customer support has been incredibly slow to help) * The steps seemed to easy. Each bag was quite small, and it seemed very easy/quick to build, which actually made it a little less fun.

Great Play Features

Henry's Galaxy February 12, 2026

This has great play features and has been very fun for our son with all the minifigs and moving pieces. Gave it less stars and bricks because all of the smooth black pieces came terribly smudged and had to be polished to make it look great. Definitely a statement piece for our Star Wars collection!

Exclusive to lego?

911Shac January 11, 2026

Buying this set was a little nerve wracking because of the price, I’ve happily bought retired older sets for more without a second thought, but this one felt like a bigger leap. With all the negative reviews about missing pieces, I was a bit concerned. I genuinely enjoy the hot tub area, the main shuttle platform, and the shuttle itself, which are all really impressive. The set is enormous, heavy, and definitely makes a statement on display. Interestingly, it doesn’t appear to be exclusive to Lego, as it’s now available at multiple other retailers… The minifigure design choices are puzzling. Spending money on unique clone faces, when clones are supposed to be identical, seems odd, especially when that detail is hidden under helmets. It would have made more sense to invest in extra leg or arm prints, which are actually visible during play or display. I recommend this set for the hardcore Lego starwars collector. The set came in a lovely, detailed boxes and the instructions were clear, which I appreciate. A bit of love and hate on this set, it’s definitely grown on me.

Fell apart during transfer

NOAVGC January 9, 2026

I'm so angry. Finished the set after weeks of building. Tried to move it upstairs to it's display location and it absolutely shattered in my arms. Seriously what's the point if it can't be moved. How am I going to rebuild a 10000 piece set in this state?
