[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wow what an amazing achievement Lego has achieved! This Lego holiday express train will bring so much joy to my family during this special season will give a touch of magic! The box it self is very sturdy and comes with an easy opening on the back. The Lego it self it has the very good quality that Lego delivers, all set is separate by sections in individual paper bags for easy access to Lego pieces. This set contains 956 pieces so it's recommended for adults but my children will join in every evening so we can build this up together. It comes ready to powered up great for go around the Christmas tree as it comes with 16 train tracks. The train it self is around 49cm long and 13cm high also very interactive with a bobbing smokestack, coal tender, flat at carrying a bell-ringing polar bear and a end car with furnished interior, includes 4 mini figures and a passenger platform with a bench and a lamppost. Another adorable fixture is the most cute little present that inside is a 3D printed little train. This set also come: with 2 printed instructions for easy building but we also are going to use the Lego builder app for a fun build together experience. I highly recommend this set I'm so excited to start building this project as my children are.

Great set, the power up module works great, fits nicely under the Xmas tree

I really wanted to love this set. We have been collecting the Christmas legos for the past 5 years. We were so excited to see a train! Sadly, the wheels at the front of the engine and the wheels under the polar bear do not easily operate. It's okay if you are just playing with it without motorization, but even with putting the motor full blast, the train creeps. We have rebuilt those two cars MULTIPLE times to see what we might be doing wrong, but after reading over reviews, I think it's just a bad design. I'm pretty disappointed.

very let down by this. it was our 6th set in this series and we were very excited to build this as part of our tradition. I assumed the price increase was a result of the political time and bought it regardless. this set has hundreds of pieces less than the earlier sets, has very few details, no real hidden surprises like previous sets and took a fraction of the build time as previous sets in the series. my kids built it, looked at it, and went and played with the previous sets leaving this one to sit alone on the floor. what happened Lego??

This build is cool, and this review probably won't stop you from getting it. However, while the bear and smokestack movements look great, they're not well engineered — they introduce too much friction when you try to motorize the model. There's also not enough weight on either the engine or the bear car to keep the mechanism functioning properly. As a result, the motor ends up dragging the build, causing the drive wheels to lose traction and spin out. To improve performance, the bear car needs smoother mechanics, and the engine should either be heavier or designed to achieve better traction.

it's a beautiful looking set and will go well with my other winter village sets..... it's 20% more expensive than last years set with 50% less bricks, more if you don't include the track. it was simple to build, ie not very exciting, I completed it in under 90 mins and I was doing other tasks while constructing it. it feels like it's a money spinner rather than a complimentary set to the Christmas village. Such a disappointment as there are many other build options for a winter village set.

This is my first Lego review after 100s of builds. I'm disappointed that this set didn't come motorized but purchased anyway. The locomotive and polar bear are supposed to move as the train move. Unfortunately neither work as they should. The wheels that activate the motion just slide on the tracks. You have to apply pressure to both the locomotive and polar bear to make them work.

Absolutely ridiculous that you market this as compatible with the battery/motor packs as though you're encouraging people to buy together for use.... But the battery and motor is retired in Australia and there is no intention to rerelease them. Unless you want to try and source them from a third party you cannot motorize the train as advertised. For the price id expect them included - waste of money

The build was fun with my son. The train looks nice. We hooked up the power to it and it won't move on the track. It doesn't weigh enough to actually move on the track. You have to press down onto the train to increase the weight and get it to run. Super disappointing, I wanted this to go around my family Christmas Tree... Do not buy if you intend to drive this around a track, buy for display/play without power only.

Got it for my Christmas village tree to run with lionel and marklin trains. For the price , I'm disappointed in it. For a Christmas house you get more pieces and people. The 3D piece is ok but I use a 3D printer already and with printers getting cheaper it's not a big deal to get a 3D printed part in a set. Especially when 3D filament is so cheap.
