Excellent LEGO Build

Troodon09 July 28, 2019

As a LEGO enthusiast, I found the set a highly enjoyable build. Other than a few technical elements, building the set is fairly easy and could be built by children if they have previous experience building sets of similar difficulty, such as the 2012 LEGO Star Wars Malevolence. The set also is amazing to display. Measuring over a metre tall, it even looks impressive compared to sets like the Millennium Falcon and Hogwarts Castle. Being able to take the set apart into the different sections of the rocket makes the rocket even kore realistic and true to the Saturn V itself. The only fault is that the rocket can brake at times during the build so at points it can be frustrating however, the finished product makes up for it. The smaller LEGO microsets that come with the rocket are surprisingly detailed and are great sets by themselves. They also make a nice change in set type after working on the Apollo Saturn V for 6+ hours. Overall the set is a great build for nearly all ages and can be appreciated by everyone, no matter their experience in LEGO building.

Perfect nod to the space pioneers

Mav040404 May 5, 2019

In the year of the 50th anniversary of the first man on the moon, this set showcases what man achieved in the 1960's, in scaled down format. And when this set is built, it is a wow moment & you can only wonder at what the gargantuan real thing must have been like to experience first hand, because this completed Saturn V is big enough! The outer box sets the scene, you get a build instruction manual with some insight to the Saturn V & this build for me was like a good book, once started I couldn't stop. Took me about 8hrs over a night & morning to build, when finished, as a fan of all things space, I had a big grin on my face! It can't help but bring the kid in you out. All in all, worth the time & money invested. Sadly they didn't approve the launch pad/tower, I understand why & I hope Lego continue to fire the imagination with sets like this going forward, especially as manned missions to Mars seem inevitable.

500+ reviews can't be wrong! This is a magnificent LEGO set, a beautiful model to display, and a wonderful tribute to the engineers at NASA that built this behemoth! The complete model is huge, and the build process is challenging and stimulating. Building the different launch vehicle sections gives you some idea of the complexity of the real Saturn V. I was really impressed with the internal structure, your basically building from inside out, I did not expect to see the actual fuel tanks etc. There are some really nice touches here, such as side pieces held on with connectors made with red, white and blue bricks, US fans will love that! What really brings over the scale, are the tiny micro-figure astronauts. The Eagle lander is really neatly done, and I like the 'splashdown' diorama as well, with one deflated balloon. You can put the Eagle and Columbia together if you take apart the escape tower, so there is everything here at a frankly amazing price point. Fantastic value for money, a real classic set!

Truly a Masterpiece

LEGOLapse June 4, 2019

This set is an absolute gem! It honestly doesn't even look like a LEGO set once built but rather an actual scale model. It's a challenging but fun build. Took me a lot longer than it would normally take someone to complete because I was filming a stop motion build. Still, it is a great value set in terms of price per brick, time to build and size of set. If you haven't seen it already, but this this is massive! It looks stunning when displayed both vertically, horizontally or separated. To top it all off, the piece count even matches the year of the launch! Well done, LEGO!

50th Anniversary build

Wakey August 7, 2019

Bought to commemorate the Apollo 11 moon landing 50th Anniversary. Loved building the Saturn V from start to finish. The scale is awesome and compliments my other Lego builds displayed in the build room. I purposely didn't rush this and spread it over a couple of weeks, I looked forward to getting home from work every night and popping a few pieces together. I hope Lego will consider some more NASA esque builds in the future.

A Superb set!

DylanMcMo June 11, 2019

Over the years I have built some of Lego's biggest sets like the Taj Mahal , Millennium Falcon etc. I just recently built this and am blown away by the level of detail and craftsmanship. It was such an enjoyable experience! I remember the days when Lego's biggest sets didn't label the bags by number so I appreciate the organisation this set provided. Overall I think the design and layout of this set was phenomenal!

First Lego Build

Dommag July 2, 2019

My kids got me the Saturn V for my 60th birthday. Who would have thought a 60 year old could have so much fun with what I thought was a child's toy. Had so much fun I purchased the Lunar Lander.

The NASA Apollo Saturn V

HDL2013 June 10, 2017

Just shy of 3 hours to build. Rocket Boys and Retro Space Guys were quickly drawn to it. Helmets off to the LEGO Ideas Creators and the LEGO Designers for a superbly engineered and designed set. The attention to detail and intricate way the stages of the Rocket are built makes you want to dismantle it in order to build it over and over, yet it is too beautiful to pull apart. My three helpers (6yo, 4yo and 3yo) were mesmerized as it steadily grew to 1m tall - taller than the two youngest I might add. The booklet includes some introductory pages (as do all LEGO Ideas sets) on the history of the Apollo Saturn V which were well put together and certainly value added to the set. A thoroughly enjoyable build that I can't recommend highly enough. The value for money is ridiculous. It is little wonder they sold out within hours of becoming available.

Best of the BEST

Yuri July 15, 2017

This is awesome !! It is quite big and the price is totally acceptable (1969 PCS) although some parts don't fit perfectly and some not very stable. Everyone who loves space should get one. And the space shuttle I highly recommond as well. It is cool. BTW, I am trying to build a launch pad for the Saturn V. Does any one have some suggestions?

Best Lego set ever

Ogel45 September 16, 2018

This set was incredible. Lots of printed parts which is also nice. After building the model I tore it apart and made a few modifications. I hated hiding those large curved pieces inside the model so I came up with an alternative way of doing it. And of course the model wasn't complete without adding a crawler and tower. All in all this was a great build. I was also amazed at how sturdy it was.
