So many neat and interesting building techniques were used in this build, from the cobblestone ground to the angles at which the buildings align. Comes with plenty of minifigures to fit the scene and is a great standalone piece especially if you do not want to buy a ton of individual sets.
This set is absolutely fantastic. The details, build experience, colors, etc are all 10/10. The set is especially important to me, as the old fisherman reminds me exactly of my Nanu, who was a fisherman in Sicily before coming to America. The details of the boat and his character are so accurate, I was brought to tears after building him and the boat. Truly a great set, and thank you Lego for giving me a daily reminder of someone I cherished so much.
I love building the fishing port similar to the one I grew up in - Redondo Beach, CA, USA (although not Italian). The gelato shop makes me wish I was living close to a real Italian gelato parlor. I was pleased the rocks in the setting were part of the buildings. I also like to look at the clear blue waters and rocks together. It is a pretty, irregular base, rather than a rectangular black box. I wish I had more settings like this from the ideas of the Creator! Again...Beautiful!
my daughter and i built this together and she loved every step of it. it comes together beautifully and had very few steps that were too challenging for an 8 year old.
A really great set to build! Lovely colours, captures Italianess really well! As an Italian I was very happy with the details like the window panes, balconies, crabs with a gelato, and plenty of cats and fishes! I would not describe this set with playability in mind as to me this is a display piece BUT I enjoyed figuring out where I wanted my minifigs to go. I also really liked reading up about the original design that was included in the booklet - and also finding out that the designer became immortalized as a minifig in the set! Brilliant set with lots of cool building techniques, great style, and just really fun to build.
I just finished building the Italian Riviera set. I love it more than I did when I first saw it. There are a lot of interesting building techniques. I really enjoyed the incredible amount of detail. It is more of a collector set than a playable set, which is fine for me but may not be for others.
This is one of the best Lego Ideas sets to date for me. It does an excellent job of capturing exactly what the box says, the Italian Riviera. The build itself was enjoyable and detailed as you'd expect, the crab enjoying a sweet treat and the colours are true for the buildings, a very clever snapshot of Italy. The only downside I feel is that there isn't a alley or walkway coming into the port for the minifigures or even the GWP, that would of been a nice more realistic touch. Overall the set is an excellent build and looks amazing, well worth adding to your collection.
I knew I wanted this one the moment I saw it. The vibrant colors, the details, the humorous touches, everything about this set is a delight. I’m not really much for minifigures, but they really do belong in this set, adding punch and a realistic atmosphere to the lively port scene. This was such a fun build, and the result is just gorgeous. I do prefer the fan designer’s original version and would like his beach to have been included, but despite that, this set is a winner.
Whilst a trip to Italy would have been preferable this was the next best thing. Really enjoyed the build and having an intricate base gave enough of a challenge without being too difficult. The rooms in the buildings are a little small but they have been well thought out.
This is 2nd set I've ordered that has missing pieces which means I can't continue till pieces arrive. Pieces take weeks to arrive for amount paid this should not happen. I feel Lego isn't what it use to be
