Nice

Gwyi March 29, 2020

Loved this set. I bought this to treat myself for birthday, but I think it came but late. Enjoyed to build the set, however, the sticker parts are bit annoying, I can't never get the sticker in place, so I have to peak it off again and again. Really hoping that those are already printed on or stock on the Lego. But overall it's great set of Lego.

Routemaster

Valerian70 September 6, 2020

I really like vehicle models and as I work in a transport adjacent industry and have done for a number of years in different areas this kit seemed like a logical fit. It is a classic looking double decker bus that brings to mind the old Routemaster buses that not only ran in London but were prevalent in Manchester in the late 1980s that I used to get to and from Uni every day. First off, lets talk about the punny destinations - they gave the other half an I a great deal of pleasure and amusement. Brickston, Yellow Brick Road, Brickadilly Circus and Twobytwo Square. There are quite a lot of stickers in this kit and they are my nemesis. The ones for the number plates and destinations weren't too bad but I really struggled with the ones for the advertising signage on the sides. Fortunately, I can report they peel off and restick easily and of the 6 on the side signage I think I had to remount 5. There is some repetitive building - all those seats! However, it didn't get boring which I thought making 14 seats for the top deck after making around 12 for the bottom deck would have tipped me over the edge but I still enjoyed it. Helped that it became almost like piece work and I was watching a Lego Expo video and discussing it with the other half as I assembled them. Great build that is really a display piece but the wheels work and there is no reason why the mini figures wouldn't fit that you may have in your stash if you wanted to play with it. I'm happy shoving this on a display shelf so I can look at it and grin. Number Of Pieces: 1,686 Average Price Per Piece: £0.06 Build Time: 5.75 Hours

Brilliant Lockdown Project

DrPaul June 6, 2020

My recent experience of Lego has been helping my granddaughter to build her Lego Friends sets, so this London Bus was something very different for me – a ‘lockdown' project inspired by a schoolfriend sharing his project! It was a very enjoyable build and the completed model looks even better ‘in the bricks' than ‘in the pics' – in particular the tiles on the sides look very heavy on the box and instruction booklet yet are fine on the model. There are many lovely details, the engine, staircase, ticket box, fire extinguisher, and seats. I made my own destination labels for the route that passed my school. I made a couple of minor changes: • I took out the 1x1x3 pillar from the front of the driver's door and replaced it with a spare 1x1 flat tile – makes the cab look better. • Also replaced the three transparent bricks below the windscreen with red 1x1, 1x1 with knob, and 1x4 bricks – and used the spare clear round brick to make an offside side lamp to match the one on the nearside (I took the 1x1 with knob from stage 45 and replaced it with a plain 1x1). I also built it with the shorter window as the last on the lower deck, and in the corresponding position upstairs, with a slight rearrangement of the bricks and plates above and below – it looks better balanced. As others have said, it would be nice to have at least driver and conductor figures. The only real disappointment is the front of the upper deck, the corners look a mess and the screen (with that awful sticky label) slopes too much – it really needs special bricks for the top corners to merge the front and side roof curves properly. I am now investigating the extra parts needed to extend the whole model by 2 studs to eliminate the short window altogether – downstairs the seats over the rear wheels would be for four as on the real thing, upstairs the seats could be moved back 1 stud to eliminate the awkward '1½' seats at the front, and the rearmost seat moved forward 1 stud with a proper seat rather than the bench. Anyway it's got me being creative!

More fun than I expected it would be

SparkyKen September 4, 2017

Normally I do Technic models, but I saw it and thought it would go great with the Buckingham Palace, it is a very nicely detailed iconic double decker bus. I think it will also go well with the large Big Ben. The build was done in stages, I started Sunday night and worked on it for a bit. I then finished it on Monday morning. The build was a lot of fun, I found one step that gave me a small problem until I realized I had placed a clear stud in the wrong place for the lid to seal. There are many extra details, like the umbrella stand and the newspaper that someone left behind which are very nice touches. I only put in one of the seat patches as I decided the bus was not as heavily used as a normal one. ;-) I plan on adding some minifigs to hang out in the bus shortly. All in all, a very fun build, now I need to get Tower Bridge so I can park it nearby. And someone convince LEGO to make a larger Buckingham Palace. Then I can have a larger London set than the architecture set.

Great Value and Details

Tankerbell August 27, 2017

I really loved the details in this set. My favorite bits are the cleverly built spiral staircase and the single pink stud representing gum somebody stuck under a seat. This is a fun build, too. The only repetitive part is putting together the individual seats, but they don't take long and can easily be made assembly-line style.

You have reached destination awesome!

Chrismystr April 28, 2018

This is my most expensive/biggest Lego purchase (so far) and it's safe to say that I am definitely not disappointed! I've had my eye on this for a while and I was so excited to get it. The build was a lot of fun. A reasonably challenging build partly because it was a bit difficult at times to find the piece I needed amidst the vastness of red! But even so, it was a very interesting build which resulted in my dad joining me and being as captivated as myself! It was especially interesting to see how the whole thing evolved as I got further into the instructions. Every time I build a Lego set I love experiencing new building techniques that force you to pick up the model, twist it around and say"wow" with a giant smile on your face. This set did that plenty of times. The end product is beautiful. The shaping of the entire thing is great especially the rear of the bus with the straight back curving into the roof. My favourite area is the boarding area with the used tickets box, umbrella stand and spiral staircase. I also love the sliding window in the cab, the seats and the details on the upper deck such as the newspaper, drinks can and chewing gum under the seat (also the two tickets in the used ticket box). The way the roof and upper deck lifts off is brilliant and it fits back on very nicely. There are a lot of stickers but once applied they look fantastic. The Lego puns they added on the destination boards are brilliant! :D Putting minifigures in is a lot of fun and it looks awesome! Overall, I think I can safely say that this is my favourite set that I own and I would recommend it to anyone! It is simply beautiful.

Another fun Creator Expert set!

Smoov January 5, 2019

After visiting London a couple years ago, this set kept calling me, and I finally decided to pick it up. I'm glad I did; it's a pretty nice set. I'd definitely prefer moving away from stickers to printed specialty parts for multiple reasons - and this set is fairly heavy with the use of stickers - but they are good quality and look nice when applied properly. I just don't like that messing up a sticker can take away from the final product... Not a big deal to me stopping to take a couple extra minutes- but a potential serious issue for younger builders and even adults with even the slightest dexterity or vision issues, etc.

Eye Catcher

AshGilber July 24, 2017

This is a lovely set produced by Lego. If you are a collector then this is definitely the set for you! Personally I think it stands out amongst all of the other Creator vehicles so far. Some design elements could of been refined a little but overall it was a great build. I would definitely recommend this product.

Excellent build with amazing details

khukhas July 26, 2017

I am a Technic guy, but this set gave me lost of pleasure in building it. There are some building techniques that I didn't know, and the level of detail of this iconic but is hudge.

Missing pieces made it less fun

BaffledBerry034 August 14, 2021

It's a fantastic item and a testing build, which was made more so by not having all the pieces. I get there can be missing parts but thought getting these ordered would be easy. Received an email saying that my request wasn't valid! Perhaps different wording could be used? Please can you send me the missing parts - see photos.
