This set is incredible and fun to build but the first thing you notice as you open it are the boat halves that join together and you realise the size. LEGO sets never show the scale due to the background but this boat measure 63cm (2') long but is lots of fun to build. It functions as a boat too, just don't expect to be floating it in your sink. I love this whole range in total and one thing I find interesting is it shows a balance of male and female minifigures in various roles, so both men and women are seen exploring the ocean together, captaining ships, and working on the ship. This range also helps national geographic and I would recommend it (I haven't got the signle person submarine for 4+ but if you have kids that age go for it) but it is definitely a fun set to build.
Fun Lego to make Me and my wife try to collect ship Lego and this actually was our first one. Compared with pirate ship or other Lego ship series it was not so hard to make or detailed which could be a good thing in some ways. But there was extra little bits such as submarine and helicopters and etc which made the build for exciting. After the build me, wife and kids all went inside the bathtub and see how it was flowing. Huge sized Lego ship floats inside our tub and kids just loved it so much. Highly recommend!
This was bought as a birthday gift and the recipient was thrilled :) once the build was complete (not too complex, especially given the size - this ship is really big!) it went straight into bathtub :) exciting to see that it floats and also cool to play scenes with new big white shark. All in all a good choice.
Now my city has no limits to ocean exploration! Everything will be discovered. Lots of play features and unique peices. The submarine is a really simple but awesome build. Would 100% recommend!
Was sent a notification that it was back in stock, after being sold out at Christmas. It was delivered in a reasonable amount of time, and now will be a birthday present.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son loves it...like obsessed! The ship itself comes in 2 pieces, you snap together and you continue to build on top. The length is 24 in. It actually floats! We had lots of fun assembling all the additional parts. We love the variety in this box: the submarine, the diver, the helicopter, and even a shark & manta ray! I also appreciate that the crew was a good mix of men and women. The detail is incredible, with a keyboard, and even mugs used to drink for the crew. I love that the crane on top can rotate. The parts are easily removable and many compartments make it fun for much longer than expected. So much fun, even for me!
This set is massive but not hard to build. It has many interactive features and actually floats on water
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was a really awesome set to build it was just the right amount of challenge! Myself and my son put this together and spent quality time playing together. With Covid-19 we are spending a lot more time at home and we were very happy to put this together! We highly recommend!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Ocean Exploration Ship is a great Lego set that can keep kids (or even the adult Lego enthusiast) entertained for hours on end. We really enjoy all the different components. There is a crane that works which is cool to be able to have the tactile/functional experience. It is also cool to be able to have a kid play with the submarine and the helicopter while a Lego shark swims nearby a pirate ship as a lego explorer goes into a shark cage. This is such a creative and detailed Lego set. The instructions seem detailed enough. They also have an app but we don't use that yet. This seems like a great gift for the future marine biologist or treasure hunter to get them away from screen time and get that imagination in gear. I am a fan of the Lego brand, too.
Was an extremely fun build, though there were a lot of stickers. I had no difficulty building it, and had a lot of fun playing with it in a baby pool! I will say that it is semi-annoying that the sunken boat does not sink properly. Other than that great build and great fun!
