LEGO Pokémon Venusaur, Charizard & Blastoise Building Set, 6838 Pieces, Set 72153

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It's a bit difficult and stressing and it is just me when you're trying to fit small bits big bits right places and they're not in right places how to do it over again twice I've made mistakes on them so venusaur I've done it finished complete in Days just got to tomorrow blastToise that's another five or six days then charizard

I really enjoyed the flow and build of this set. The bases for the Venusaur, Blastoise and Charizard where just as fun as building the actual pokemon. The Blastoise teeth step was extremely frustrating but using a pair of pliers made it a lot easier. Really awesome display piece! Make sure to move it one piece at a time before setting it in its proper location!

Is this set expensive? Yes. Is it a masterpiece? Absolutely! I understand the frustration with the price being so high, but given that this set blew me away in every way possible, it has become an absolute all-time favorite for me. If you can shell out this type of money for a Lego set, you won't be dissapointed.

As someone who was 9 when this franchise debuted in the US I was thrilled to death when Lego announced this set. It's a very fun build with secrets and references throughout each Pokemon. You will definitely get the value for the price you pay and the fun you will have while building this set. The instructions weren't difficult to follow and how things came together was fun to see. It's very display worthy and you will be impressed with the size when you're done. If you're a Millennial with a credit card and a love for Gen 1 BUY THIS SET!

Oh. My. Goodness. This is probably the coolest thing I have ever seen in my 18 years of living. As a pokemon and lego lover, this set has brought be pure joy and while building it I shed tears. I highly recommend this lego set for anyone who has any compassion for anything ever in their lives.

As the world’s biggest Pokémon fan, I was so excited when I found out Lego would be releasing Pokémon sets. I already built Eevee and Pikachu. I was right to save the best for last, because this set definitely did not disappoint me. This set is extremely detailed and has a lot of amazing features. The set is sturdy and can be disassembled into parts for easy transport. The Pokémon can be easily removed from their bases for different types of pictures. The set does have a decent amount of repetition. The most annoying part would be getting Charizard and Blastoise’s teeth into the holes. Overall, this set is definitely recommended for any serious Pokémon fan.

I really love the Pokemon builds. Charizard felt a little bit small to me, but still a terrific build. Building each creature was a unique and fun challenge. I just really wish the base hadn't been included, or at least hadn't been so big. It's basically half of the set. Still a great display piece for anyone who loves Pokemon and Lego!

With the premium price of this set, I had higher expectations. Venusaur's mouth is very fragile. The connection for the bottom jaw just needed more reinforcement. It stays but you can't really play with it or move it around much. This we the most solid pokemon in the set though. Blastoise I found had quite a few gaps. Big enough gaps to see inside and is noticeable even when standing at a distance. It was lighter than venusaur as well. Blastoise is also much smaller than venusaur. Charizard was the most disappointing. Charizard very light and most of the pieces for the build are for the base. A lot of gaps in the Charizard as well. It felt like they had plans to make this a really solid build and as it goes along, corners were cut. My guess would be it was cut in quality for cost. Even the boxes inside separating each Pokemon build degraded in quality. Box 1 was a taped box, high quality, and easy to store away; while box 2 and 3 were top lid style (harder to store away) and lower quality. As the build moves along, the quality degrades; the Pokemon become smaller; and the bases for the Pokemon become the main focus. Normally I wouldn't be this picky with LEGO but given the increased costs, I feel it's fair to hold this particular set to an extremely high standard. I was a customer purchasing their first “big set”. Often a set customers will save years for or never be able to justify. This was truly the first Lego set that let me down. I hope Lego takes this feedback and really increases the quality control when charging for premium sets.

The overall set is really well designed to look good and be fun to build. There are multiple sections on each build that do not stay together if trying to move the builds to any length. The mouth to venusaur falls off with any amount of touch and is a hassle to put back together. The toes of blastoise have fallen to every corner of my room. It is a fun build, but I needed to modify connections and to make the build stay together

This is the second premium set i have purchased with poor quality pieces. Lego has built their reputation on quality and charges 4X more than competitors. What happens when corners are cut and quality goes out the window? Several dozen pieces in the first half of this set either have cracks or deep scratches. This is unacceptable.
