I knew this build would have more stickers than the other LEGO Speed Champions builds so I was prepared, however I found it quite enjoyable. My favourite part of this car is the back, its beautiful with some nice details for a simple build. The spoiler is also a nice touch and the way it attaches is clever. Overall a simple build but I feel LEGO got the aesthetics right with this one.
My son was very excited to get this set, as this is his favorite car and he really enjoyed the build
9 year old loved it!
Great looking model, easy build. Both stickers and prints are very crisp with no defects. Stickers do have to be aligned to look good though. Colours work really well. Looks much better than in the pictures, would definitely recommend.
I'm a huge fan of the upgrade to 8 studs wide, as the amount of extra details compared to previous years is outstanding. This is no exception. The front is instantly recognisable, and the build is fun. The back is the same, and I like that a stud was left below the lights to angle them up. The colours throughout are great, and I don't mind the stickers as they provide lots of additional detail. Overall the build was fun, and it's a great little display piece which is very recognisable and accurate.
This model looks fantastic and like others here I am a fan of the new larger SC sets. Like all SC cars, it has great details and is solidly built. As with previous reviews, I have noticed mistakes in the instructions, which I haven't seen before on Lego. Instruction 39 doesn't show you where to put the parts and 66 has the two rear lights parts the wrong way around.
I've always been a fan of the GT-R. The bigger size of the new Speed Champions set helps this model look great. Slight error in the building instructions step 39 on page 30 does not show where to put the pieces but it is easy to work out as they are shown in situ in the next step. I did have to rebuild the 'engine bay' several times before I could get the bonnet cover to fit. There are a lot of stickers and it is worth taking your time with them to get them right. A steady hand and a tweezers I find are a big help. Young builders may need a hand to get them right.
WARNING: Just want to warn LEGO fans and people that maybe on some sets, step 23 will have the sticker placement upside down. This is an error in the instruction manual. The sticker remains incorrectly placed throughout the instruction. The proper orientation is as it shows in the box image . If you placed your sticker incorrectly, you can apply heat to it with a hair dryer and carefully peel it back off to then stick back at the proper orientation; Or contact LEGO support for an extra sticker sheet. Still giving this set a 5 star rating, as this is one of the best speed champion sets, and the first Japanese license for a car :)
Having been building and collecting the Speed Champions range for a few years now I picked this up as soon as I saw it! The build is completely different to the previous products in the range due to the larger scale and base plate/chassis. Overall the extra size does allow for more detail and the rear of the GTR is particularly impressive. My only issue is that due to the scale increase is looks a little odd next to the rest of the collection. I guess I'll just have to buy more of the 2020 range and start another shelf!
Not Bad ...! Pros: Some great building techniques for this 8 stud Speed Champion. Looks true and unmistakable to a Nissan GTR. Better interior design than the Ferrari. Cons: Steering wheel is not centred to the driver. The wheels also look just that bit too small. These both seem to be a common issue with the new 8 stud Speed Champions.
