I purchased this set the instant I saw it, and what better time to do it than Chinese new year? The year of the Dragon! I've been a fan of Chinese culture for a long time and the iconic imagery of the Dragon is something I've loved since childhood, so this set was a must-buy. Even the box is a work of art; with its deep red dragon and Chinese lantern theme. Build wise it's pretty straightforward, the instructions are clear and that makes things much easier - there are a few more advanced build techniques in there, but as I say the instructions are so clear I don't think anyone would be stuck for long. The set is age rated 10+ and I think that's about right for the difficulty. If I can offer one small criticism for the sake of trying to make this set as accessible as possible - There are several elements in the set which are likely to spark curiosity and questions, the name plate and the blue crystal (or pearl). Unfortunately Lego missed a trick here as the instructions contain no information about these elements and I think it would have been a good move to include some printed information about these elements and their significance. I would very much like to see Lego continue and do some more cultured sets like this and if they do, I sincerely hope that there will be some information in the instructions for those who aren't aware. But this is a minor gripe, as you can always research the images. So when all is said and done you're left with a completed dragon, a truly striking piece and something that's not stopped drawing my gaze since I completed it. I absolutely adore it and I think I'll proudly display this one as a permanent display piece. Well done to Lego, well done to the designer - I'm simply blown away by this one.

Bought this for my husband as his first Lego set… He was a bit dubious about the product but got to work on it straight away. After several sittings, it was complete and it now takes pride of place in his ‘man cave'!

My brother and I slowly worked our way towards building this dragon. There were about 10 parts, so we took turns completing one part before handing it over to the other person for the next part. It started off a lot easier in the beginning, mostly because the instructions actually pointed towards where the pieces should go. But the more we progressed, the more my brother would notice that the instructions would just show what the finished model should look like at the current step without pointing out where the pieces would go. I guess this is more of a recommendation to those who are intermediate/expert builders. But it was still an overall fun experience! And the finished model of the dragon looks amazing!

This was truly a remarkable set to build! Looks amazing when built and was pretty straight forward to build. I was actually surprised with the size when finished, it was bigger than I was expecting! Definitely worth picking up, you won't be disappointed!

The Auspicious Dragon looks fantastic and makes for an great display piece. The build experience was enjoyable. That being said, I found some build and element placement to come off easily when handling, so it may not make for a great play piece for young kids.

We got this set as a New Year gift from one of our friends. It caught our eyes immediately. IT IS VERY BEAUTIFUL! And my 8yo son started building right away. It took him some time to finish, but he didn't feel bored and never complained. Not at all! And the final result is so amazing! I know some people would prefer an all-red dragon, but I appreciate all the other colors that make the dragon more vivid! I am now looking for a display case for it because it will be a great addition to our CNY celebration!

I have been in love with Chinese dragons since childhood; I own several leather journals with dragons, along with dragon art, so when I saw this auspicious dragon for the year of the dragon in 2024, I ordered right away! I built it over the course of two days; i'm guessing around 4 to 5 hours total. The first five bags or so go towards constructing the base, while the remaining bags contain the printed scale element and all the parts you'll need for your dragon. There are a lot of clever building techniques hidden under the scales, and the dragon does articulate to some degree. There was enough variety in the build that it didn't become repetitive despite making multiple copies of the same part. It looks absolutely fantastic as part of my New Year's display and I plan on keeping it up all year!

I bought this set for myself since I was born in the Year of the Dragon and thought it would make a great addition to my ever expanding collection. Hopefully LEGO can make more like this set for each of the animals that are in the Chinese New Year Calendar and expand to other Calendars as well. ❤️Amazing design overall❤️

Didn't enjoy following the book to build. Lots of parts I had to refer to online instruction. Book doesn't highlight placement. I did have to pull apart from bag 4 & start again due to unclear book instructions. With online you have ability to move around so verify some actual placements of tiles. They are also highlighted. I found Disney large castle much easier to put together with the clearer instructions booklet. End result, I love dragons so love the outcome
