everything was awesome
Overall opinion of the set: On hearing about this set it was instantly a must buy; finally a systems brick built Dewback! It's a delightful little build with many options for posing, and is actually a better scale for the sandtrooper minifigure than either of the previous two moulded Dewback's included in the various Mos Eisley Cantina sets of the past. I must admit this is my first micro fighter purchase as I'm not such a fan of the distorted scale of the sets- but I do appreciate the appeal of ‘swooshability' of such small sets for younger children. As much as I love the Dewback, the droid escape pod did little to change my opinion on this, so I can't see myself becoming invested in the series. Who should buy this set? I ultimately imagine this set will be purchased by two groups of people: children who are the ideal age to be entertained by the micro fighter series, and people like myself who simply can't resist the Dewback! How are the minifigures? Well to start, to my knowledge this is the first time that there have been 3 minifigures in a microfighter set, so already this set can't really be criticised in the minifigure department regardless of how the figures turn out! The Sandtrooper with the controversial new ‘large' stormtrooper helmet in my personal opinion works very very well, and my only wish would be that I could obtain more of them, perhaps in a battle pack of some kind! Otherwise, C3PO is a great figure if you don't already have him, and R2-D2 gets an appropriate inclusion too, but feels pretty worthless as I think my number of R2's is pretty solidly into the teens at this point... after 20 years of Star Wars LEGO sets, perhaps it's finally time for a redesign of that classic astromech design...? Pro's: -Brick Built Dewback -Lovely new Sandtrooper design -Three minifigures in a microfighter set Con's: -Yet another droid escape shuttle! -Yet another R2-D2 and C3PO! -Only one Dewback! Personally I pretty desperately want a second Dewback and Sandtrooper, so it's a shame I can't purchase one without also obtaining an unusual R2-D2 and C3PO army (though that's not likely to stop me!)
The 2019 LEGO Star Wars Micofighters are out and I have to say this set is outstanding! The set "Escape Pod vs. Dewback Microfighters #75228, 177 pieces. Comes with a all new Sandtrooper with re-molded helmet, C-3PO, R2-D2, Escape Pod and Dewback. The build is straight forward and fun. I really enjoyed the Dewback build in this set, the feel and design works perfect in the Microfighters scale. However I feel the Escape Pod is a just a little to compact for C-3PO and R2-D2. But I understand the over all theme of the Micofighters series so in the end I'm ok with this. With lots of little extras in the set I would recommend pick one up, or like me I got two just for the Dewbacks and new Sandtrooper. Happy building to everyone
This is a really great set, hearkening back to Episode IV, with R2D2 and C3PO making their escape from the Empire, and running from the Stormtroopers on Dewbacks. While the piece count, at 177, is a bit low, the value is made up with the addition of a rare desert Stormtrooper with shoulder pauldron and backpack. The Dewback is admittedly out of scale, as is the escape pod; but this is Microfighters. With limited play value, the appeal, at least for me, was in the nostalgia of the Original Trilogy. Overall, a great addition to any collection. This is certainly one of my favorite Star Wars sets in it's simplicity.
I have the Droid Escape Pod from 2016, and this Minifighter set is a great follow-on/homage to that. You get the escape pod itself, R2-D2 and C-3P0, plus a Sandtooper on a Dewback. Honestly, the Dewback is the highlight of this set, with articulated head and tail and is a fun build as well. The Sandtrooper has the Tatoonine sand all over him and I hope he doesn't find our two favourite intrepid droids. Move along, move along.
I truly enjoyed this little set. The Escape Pod was a fun build, not too much about that was unexpected. The Dewback was what I was waiting for, and it was worth it. This was so much more fun than the old molded parts Dewbacks. I was delighted with the little bits of movement this Dewback had, filled with character and charm. Now offer up a bigger fully articulated Dewback for us in 2020 and I will be a happy camper.
I'm simply restating what's already been said about this set; the dewback is a fantastic design. I was worried it would be unstable, but it hold together well. I feel the built dewback is better than the minifigure version found in some of the older Mos Eisley sets. The escape pod is also a fun build, but I'll likely be using it for parts. I'm happy to get more rolker skates!
Great little set in the microfighters range! Cute and capturing the atmosphere of the mos eisley scenes from ‘a new hope', This set is worthwhile for the dewback-alright it's not as great as the larger dewback in the cantina sets but it's not bad! Captures the essence of the dewback in the film and looks good with trooper atop. Highlight for me is the trooper-nicely detailed! Also in the set, the standard r2 and threepio figures plus a mini escape pod. Ok, so they can't really fit in it, but with microfighters range the scale is always slightly out, as they're built for fun not really show pieces. All in all a good set tho!
When I saw this set, I thought it looked great. Three figures in a Microfighters set, a new Sandtrooper, and a brick built Dewback. The figures: The three figures are a nice selection, Artoo and Threepio are not new, but being someone who has never had these two iconic characters before, it's special for me. The Sandtrooper has a new helmet, which the eyes and mouth grille are separately molded from the white shell, which looks really good, but it makes the helmet extremely bulky. The models: The escape pod is well done, being able to fit Artoo and Threepio rather well, almost comedic like. Good detailing for such a small set, and a lot of rockets on the back! The Dewback looks great, standing rather well beside the Sandtrooper, it's not too tall. The making this model was not repetitive, making it an interesting build, with a unique sand green colour scheme. All in all, it was a fun set to build with no huge gripes!
This is a cool set, although it doesn't do much. There aren't any stud shooters or anything, but still a cool set. I love the 2 in 1 Microfighter sets, and I think they should make more. I Think Lego should make a Zam Wessel Airspeeder vs. Anakin's speeder microfighter battle set. It's about time they made a new Zam Wessel minifigure.
