100% Worth it!

SilentBob118 March 10, 2013

If you're a fan of Lego and Star Wars, this is a MUST. The suggested build time of this 3,152 piece monster is around 10 hours, but it will take you much longer. To me, this is a good thing because in life, as is all things I've come to learn, its the journey that is the most fun, not the destination. This 49" behemoth proudly sits amongst my collection and I enjoy looking at it everyday. It is a lot more complicated than the standard Lego builds, but as you piece it together you will see the simplicity in its major components. The price is steep, but then again, you truly get what you pay for.

My 12 year old was very pleased Christmas morning.

queenair December 31, 2012

He had no idea he was getting it cause it was so expensive, when I saw Walmart run it on sale I had to get it for him he had asked for it 2 christmas' in a row. Then changed his mind because of the price. This year he had settled to share a PS3 with his brother because he could not decide what he wanted. I got him this as his special gift under the tree, his brother had no idea what he was getting either for his special gift so this worked out great. Thanks Walmart for running it on sale. You made a special day for my son.

Great gift

GeeksGirlfriend September 16, 2013

Everything met expectations. I'm giving it as a gift so I would have liked a less wrinkled box around the edges. This wasn't damaged, but the look could have been better since the product is new.

Love it so much!

Splendid set! Had a blast putting it together. I did have a couple of missing pieces, but they were fairly minor pieces that were easy to replace from left-over pieces from other sets.

Venture to the Dark Side

TheDarkLord October 26, 2013

This toy is pricey but worth the anguish of getting yelled at for a few days for building this star destroyer at the main dinner table. Push all of those place settings aside because there will not be anybody sitting and eating near this project for days. Nevermind the threats from your girlfriend or spouse that you or you and your child(ren) will be sent to your rooms for commandeering the dining room. The Dark Side will reward you for earning the respect of your fellow Sith (neighbors and online bragging rights). Your child(ren) will listen to you bark orders from now on and do their chores the first time as you help them build this awesome toy. Fear not...granting your girl a mere shopping spree or a day at the spa will mend that minor rift in your domestic relationship once this beast of a ship is built. Like having the coolest yard tools on the block, neighbors in awe will flock to your house in awe but be sure to take off that Vader mask and try not to motion and choke anyone as they will want to touch this Star Destroyer. May the Force be with you.

Must have for any Lego fan.

Panhead123 December 25, 2012

Wow. This set is simply death defying. No other Lego set matches up to it, unless you have the UCS Millenium Falcon which I've heard is better than this one. You won't understand the sheer size or weight of it until it's complete. Lets start at the beginning. When you open the box you get three white number boxes labeled 1-3 and a smaller box for the instruction book. The numbered boxes also have numbered bags in them. Box 1 has bags 1-2, box 2 has bags 3-4, and box 3 has bags 5-7. The instruction book is a spiral bound giant it's 39" long when opened up. It is probably one of the most impressive things with this set. The mini figures. Dengar is a redesign with a backpack you build. Bossk is just from the Slave l set. Darth Vader has scar marks on his head and a little more printing on the torso than usual. IG-88 is a redesign but just a battle droid with a fancy head. Finally Admiral Piett is an exclusive figure to this set. The build. It was an average build but the way they use basic Lego parts to build this is just beautiful. There are a few different pieces than normal but this set has 3152 pieces so its understandable but they kept the unique pieces down. The way you build the flat bottom and then build long huge technic parts that clip to the base and then clip to each other because this things weighs a TON in the back but it is very very well supported with the technic. The superstructure is remarkably simple. You build baseplates that go around the command bridge and then a lot of repetition comes building up to 12 of the same little detailing pieces because its perfectly symmetrical but it's so worth it to see it in the end. Unless you tell someone and point out the repeated pieces on the top they won't see but maybe MAYBE an experienced lego builder could see it. The wings were very unstable when your building them because they're 49" long themselves and you have to continually flip it over and over and over and over again. But at the end they become very sturdy when they're ready to clip on. The engines are very cool and they even have detailing on them. The stands and display card are a very nice addition and support the model well. Playability. The set isn't to be played with even though they threw in the hidden bridge there's not a lot to do with except with the illustrations on the box because its kind of small and not to mini figure scale. It's a nice addition but it definitely isn't worth getting for a kids under maybe 15 if they're mature but under that they won't like it because there really isn't playability. Ratings: Build-10/10 Minifigures-9.2/10 Playability-2/10 Overall-10/10

Great product for the seasoned lego enthusiast.

18273920387472 February 15, 2013

Overall, the product was fun to put together and took 16 hours. My only gripes were a few missing pieces, and the IG-88 figurine's bust and legs were bent. I've sent a picture to Lego in hopes that they'll send me a new IG-88 figurine. This thing is massive, over 4 feet, and it looks great next to my Millenium Falcon, X-Wing Fighter, and Hoth set.
