The final product looks amazing. There is so much detail that really brings this to life. However, I found the build itself a little weak. There were lots of parts that needed to be held up by other bits to remain stable. That said the final product was fantastic. I cant wait for more releases.
Great addition to my Star Wars helmet collection waiting for the next one too!
Couldn't wait for this to come out and it didn't disappoint. When putting helmet together watch where you place your fingers to brace helmet adding pieces, had to reattach pieces multiple times. Wish the pieces came with decals already on them, never have been to good with stickers. Overall I had fun building it and adding it to my collection. On to the next helmet build can't wait to see what is next.
Had to post, because according to the LEGO Builder app this is my 66th Star Wars set, making this Order 66. I have every original helmet set, but missed out on the TIE Helmet, so had to pick this up on the first day. While obviously some of the same techniques from the Storm Trooper are there, it surprised me the new plate placements and came together to make an awesome display piece.
I have all the helmets and there was an evolution with the Jango helmet and this one was different again. Looks amazing as always but I found the build very fiddly as have some others. I think this is because Lego is trying to do something different and by the AT-RT helmet they will have probably perfected it. My sticker sheet was bent in the box and unusable but I've reported it and I know that Lego will get this sorted out come Monday.
The idea for the AT AT driver helmet is fantastic, the complex design inside the helmet is fascinating but, don't think its necessary for this helmet, maybe they found issues when designing it the usual way, but I am always having to be careful how I pick it up, everything feels very loose. interesting choice with the gray, but i guess its hard to get an off white color, overall, cool design, cool facial features, respect the change but prefer the other solid designs
The idea of this build is good and its internal structure was interesting compared to the others in the series but there are elements that just don't fit like they should. There are also a few mistakes in the instructions step 106-110 are out of sequence but that's not a serious complaint. Overall average as there's just too many gaps in the form than I was expecting.
This was the most frustrated I've been on a Lego build since the bow section of the Jaws set. Sure it looks great, but the headache of putting it together sure takes away from any great looks it has. Pieces hardly stay on, some sections definitely should have been put together before others and it's so darn fragile. I had to tear it down from the stand and start again which was just awful. The great majority of all the Lego sets I put together are wonderful and fun. This one sadly wasn't either.
This is my ninth helmet and by far the first disappointing build. The hollow way it's built and all the small weak connections make me fearful this set is going to fall apart. The piece to price ratio is off from prior helmets as well. There are gaps all around the build where light comes through making it look of lower quality to previous builds of the same kind. Very disappointed in this entire set and almost embarrassed to add it next to all my other helmets for display.
It pains me to say this, but I really did not enjoy this build. Strike One: Right off the bat, why is this helmet grey? AT-AT Drivers' helmets are white. Their flightsuits are grey. I didn't like the color choice when I first saw the preview pics of this set, so I may have gone into this build already not liking this set, but... Strike Two: This build is so fiddly, the whole time I was putting this together, I thought I was listening to a Charlie Daniels song. This set is over-engineered. You have a perfectly workable base design for these helmets. Why did you change it up for this one? The clips and pins used to assemble this set make for an unpleasant building experience. And you end up with so many gaps. You should have just modified the TIE Pilot Helmet design. Strike Three: The stickers, dear lord, the stickers. The helmet crest pieces should have been printed. I really did want to like this set. I have all the other Star Wars helmets except the Dark Trooper, and I've enjoyed them all. But, yeah, I can't recommend this one. Sorry.
