First up, when I realised that this set had no stickers and everything was printed, I was excited. No stickers in sets are a strong move for Star Wars Lego that I support, and I hope this becomes common. Regarding the build, I particularly enjoyed how the cylinders of the bomber were developed as one piece, giving solidity to the core of the model, this also makes it easy to place on a stand. I also enjoyed the way the wings were built. The set contains some nice minifigures, I finally have a Lego Darth Vader, and a Gonk Droid. In terms of size, this set goes well with the recent Tie Fighter model (#75300).
I bought this set mainly for the Vice Admiral Sloane and Darth Vader figures. The printing and details are brilliant. This theme is carried on into the model, with printed pieces rather than stickers. The printing on the gonk droid, Imperial logo and pilot instruments are stunning. The Tie Bomber is easy to make and creates a solid and visually stunning model. The accompanying hover vehicle doesn't have the benefits of the vehicle which accompanies the Slave 1 (75312) set but is a nice addition. The only slight disappointment is not being able to see the pilot through the cockpit window. Overall, an impressive build which is complemented by excellent minifigures and printing.
In my opinion this is the best Tie Lego has ever produced. The build quality is fantastic, remains super sturdy, dialed, and super satisfying to build. Everything goes together nicely, at times it feels like you're building a mini UCS set. Hats of to the designers on this one, they truly knocked it out of the park. Comparing to the bomber from the movies/series/video games, the proportions are very accurate which I feel can sometimes be quite hard to pull off this closely in Lego for a set which isn't UCS. It's larger in the flesh than the photos will show, which was a nice surprise. Speaking of size, it's not too big or too small, it looks and feels just right. Overall, super good build. No flexing parts, no creaking, no wobbles, the entire build feels like one solid piece. I rarely rate things as "perfect" but this is so close to it. I've had Lego starwars since I was a kid, and this is now my all time favourite "ship sized" build I've ever had. Love it!
It was fun to put together and each individual package was marked. It is a great addition to my collection. Assembly took a couple of hours. It did include several figures. Stickers were easy to place on the Lego.
We had one VERY happy little boy when he woke up to his new LEGO set that Santa left for him!! He has not put this thing down since. Very happy with this purchase!
Fantastic build. Always fun building Lego with my son. It's our happy place.
I had a hard time finding prequel sets but when I saw this I had to snag it! It was a lot of fun to put together with my family and overall very sturdy and easy to understand instructions! Will definitely recommend to anyone looking for a cool Star Wars set to put together
The TIE Bomber set was dispatched quickly and arrived earlier than expected, once opened it is a set with multiple bags, one word of advice following the instructions only open the bag needed at the time also have a few containers to empty the bag into and presort a few of the pieces which makes it easier, you will need to set yourself up on a cleared desk or kitchen table to have enough room to build sections then add them to the main part of the build, I had my nephew helping me and it was not quite two hours to build, the set is slightly bigger than I expected but loved by my nephew which this was purchased for
Overall, this is a nice set that presents enough difficulty to keep the builder focused and entertained. It has some playability with the droppable bombs and stud shooters. Some of the figures are cool, but the imperial officer and Darth Vader don't add a lot here. Honestly at the price point, I prefer the Imperial TIE fighter more, but still a solid set overall.
As with many other lego builds, the design and build is good, however, there is zero consideration to display. There is no stand or support for the bomber so it's expected to sit on its own wings and looks terrible displayed this way. Don't waste your money or you'll be looking to buy a bespoke stand at significant expense to make it look right. Step up Lego and sort your presentation!
