this set is great, the only bad part is the hood piece, which i threw away.
I bought this lego Stars Wars Death Vader Transformation as a Christmas present for my sister and she loved it! Fun and creative activity to do indoors during the pandemic.
This set is a remake of a 2005 set, Darth Vader transformation, and builds well on it's predecessors key factors. By still including the Anakin/Vader turntable, and improving it by means of a relatively simple axl turntable, this set already acomplishes more than the original. Furthermore, I was pleasantly suprised by the inclusion of Emperor Palpatine, whose current tan variant is considerably rare. The minifigures in this set are aesthetically pleasing and enjoyable. Anakin skywalker is an improvement over the previous, 2012 version, being more movie accurate and slightly less... orange, whilst Vader, with his new and improved helmet, now coming in two parts helps to capture that gloomy face shot when his helmet is placed over his head. Palpatine is an enjoyable minifigure, being the same as his Death Star variant, and fx-4, the medical droid with many arms has been brilliantly redesigned. The major feature of the set is the actual 'transformation' and it is as effective as it is simple. The addition of the helmet 'placer onner' is very welcoming, as it adds more flair to an otherwise simple set. Overall, this set is thoroughly enjoyable and a must have, even if you get it just for the minifigure palet, and therefore I recommend you purchase it.
...Yes, my Master. Let me start by saying whichever genius or group of geniuses who gave us this set deserve a pay rise. This is definitely one of my favourite sets, if not my absolute favourite of all time. I don't even know where to begin. The value for money is perfect. The figures are perfect. The play features are irresistible even to me, a (sort of) mature 'adult'. The set looks incredible. There is so much thought put into this set, I just have no words that can do it justice. The workings of this set are so beautifully simple yet ingenious. I've never had so much fun putting a helmet on a Darth Vader figure. Even Darth Vader himself would enjoy playing with this set, despite the horrible flashbacks it would probably give him. IT'S THAT GOOD. Speaking of which, the figures are excellent. This was my first new-style Vader figure and he looks incredible. I will always appreciate old-school Vader but this young man is a welcome addition. Darth Sidious too looks brilliant, along with his contingent of medial droids, which are a nice balance of intimidating and sleek. I can't recommend this set enough. If you are on the fence, BUY IT. If you're disappointed, I'll eat my hat.
I have purchased hundreds of Lego sets but this by far has to be the best Star Wars set I've purchased ever (and I say this owning the death star) As for the price you pay you get and incredible line up of minifigures plus 3 brick built droids not even mentioned in the fig line up, you also are able to create one of the most Iconic scenes from star wars and as a collector of sets that look good on display all you need is a dark surface to put this set on and it looks incredible! As for the build, it was surprisingly not too repetitive and uses some interesting bricks as well. With plenty of room to place minifigures. The set also is relatively compact as well so it won't take up any unnecessary space on the shelf. The only thing if we are nit-picking that I felt could have made this set exceptional was an extra Vader helmet piece so that you could display Anakin on one side and then use the Vader fig for something else. But that said this is a tiny thing. Overall if you like this scene from the films buy this set and if you don't like the prequel trilogy much but have not yet got a Vader fig, your not likely to find a cheaper way to get him anytime soon so I would pick this up just for that!
This set looked interesting enough to give it a try even though I already had Vader and Palpatine minifigs from the Death Star Final Dual set. I did not regret this decision after assembling the set. The minifigs are obviously highly desirable with the two most famous Sith lords in the galaxy. Getting them together and in something this inexpensive is rare, so get them while you can! There is also battle damaged Anakin Skywalker ready to wear the full suit. The printing is very good on all three minifigs. Three buildable droids add to the character selection. They are easily recognizable from the film and come with some nice accessories. The set does a good job of faithfully recreating the medical chamber where Vader is fully converted into his mechanical form. The playable features include the ability to "change" Anakin to Vader, put the helmet on, raise up the platform so Vader can stand up, and simulate Vader's anger at some bad news, thus knocking the droids down. There are also two lightsabers provided. Perhaps the two Sith Lords could duel each other? Overall, this set is good for display value as it is a nice way to recreate the scene from the prequels. One could have a lot of fun with this set. It is definitely designed well and could have a lot of possibilities. We have already used it to place Boba Fett's helmet on him, and we will probably seek out other helmeted minifigs to "crown" them as well. A definite thumbs up on this one.
I was extremely excited to see this set added to LEGO's Summer 2017 releases way back in spring. It is very similar in scale and function the 2016 Carbonite Freezing Chamber. I say this because it implements a near identical technic mechanism for the character transformation. The minifigures are nicely detailed. The medical droids were just icing on the cake. It is a great (and cheap) way to get Darth Vader with the new two-piece helmet. This set uses a revolving two-sided operating table so that you can show battle-scarred Anakin Skywalker, then you can flip it to reveal the newly transformed Darth Vader. Mechanism for placing the top part of the helmet on Lord Vader's head, which was recreating the scene from Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith was superbly done. I can almost hear Vader's classic Noooo echoing through my as I raise him up. I would recommend this set to any LEGO or Star Wars fanatic.
That's really the main benefit of this set...it's one of the few iconic moments from the prequels. I was not a huge fan of the "scene" sets, but I have gotten to like them because most are iconic moments (mos eisley cantina, han being frozen in kryptonite, final duel, etc). The set is very simple and a bit repetitive since it's only a couple hundred pieces and most of the base is the same...still a nice addition to the overall Star Wars universe. I may add a circular base to further increase the overall prominence...as it is now, not very impressive with the rest of my collection.
This is one of those sets I had walked by a few times and placed on the wish list but was in no hurry to purchase. Generally, I opt for vehicles rather than scenes as they display better IMO. It sounds silly but the details in the minifigs, most specifically Darth's two piece helmet, is what sold me on this set. REALLY cool using the rubber pieces to hold the helmet and make it look like it is mid-install. The injured Anakin is a great addition as well. Overall, set is a nice little build with great mini's. I know some people would qualify the droids as extra minifigs and they are pretty neat, but definitely secondary to Darth/Anakin and E.P. (Although the tools included with the droids are very cools extra details.)
Too much money for a small Lego
