LEGO Technic 4x4 Mercedes-Benz Zetros Trial Truck 42129 Building Toy (2,110 Pieces)

I have wanted this one for a while after it came out and so when it went on sale it was a must have! As someone who has always loved Mercedes-Benz and been interested in the Zetros this was just too good to be true. Nonetheless it was a great straightforward build and although there were ton of stickers, they look fantastic on the model. Even though there are mixed reviews about the overall model and functions I think Lego did a marvelous job! Our girls have an absolute blast driving over anything they can find and it is a great rock crawer outside too! I would advise to be careful if you drive it outside since it does have a tendency for small pcs to get loose and go missing. All in all this is by far a wonderful Lego model set and I look forward to many great more to come!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this for me and my son to complete together, we have started together, i work all week so this is a weekend project, not yet completed but will be done soon,then we can both enjoy it. Has been very easy to assemble and instructions are clear and precise, i will post pictures when we have completed. We both love lego especially the bigger projects you feel like youve accomplished something wonderful.

Awesome set that's so fun to use the drive motor via Bluetooth using your phone! Definitely for experienced Lego building adults, but made an excellent gift to my husband! Fun to play with as adults after building!

I am in awe of the locking differential on this truck and the 4 motors that run the vehicle. I own the Claas tractor anthe Mack anthem batwing and the new tumbler. I am 44 and still love Legos since the 80,s. The new Bluetooth remote hub is awesome. I hit a 39 degree climb on my sons long skateboard it was amazing. This truck is a powerhouse and I am driving it as we speak thank you Lego for suck an amazing vehicle

It's certainly testing enough for adults and will make for an engaging experience. It's also a brilliant kit for an adult and a younger builder to share, especially for the learning experience as it's a excellent way to learn about 4x4 vehicle mechanics, gears, differentials and torque. The Control + app adds a whole new dimension to the Lego kit building experience too. If you love mechanics and big trucks this is the perfect Lego set for you. It comes in a nice big box making it an impressive gift for anyone lucky enough to receive it. The build itself has over 2000 pieces and while very clearly instructed, has enough challenges to keep it interesting and the sense of satisfaction keeps coming as you complete each section. I took over a week to build mine, spending a few hours each evening. The finished model is very impressive. It's large and is an excellent representation of the real Mercedes Benz Zetros truck. There's plenty of cool details like full suspension, visible working gearbox plus opening doors and engine compartment. Better still, you get to see the truck's off road engineering in action when you put the model through it's paces! This isn't a fast driving vehicle, it's more of a rock crawler, so it's all about power, torque and climbing capability. If you want a racer, this isn't the kit for you. The way to enjoy the mechanical prowess of this off-road truck is in the creating of difficult obstacles for it to tackle and testing the limits of what it can do. This truck can really climb and is capable at tackling almost impossible inclines. It also comes with some flag stands to help you set out your obstacles and courses. On top of this the Control + app adds a whole lot more functionality to the kit. The app is free to download and links to the truck via bluetooth. Set up is super easy, the app connects to the control hub in the truck and after the auto calibration is done you'll be ready to go. The Control + driving interface is user friendly and allows you to drive, reverse, steer and engage your locking differential. There's a working horn, plus there are some geometry displays which show the pitch and angle of your truck while you drive it, I love this detail. There's also an alternative ‘drag' control option which allows you to drive the truck with one hand. The app provides some fun challenges and goals for you to achieve but my favourite feature is the augmented reality function which allows you to scan your truck and view the virtual working mechanics in action through your smartphone camera. It's a real nice detail, it's great to play with and again a great learning experience. This isn't a cheap kit but with the Control + app to play with and the amount of fun you can have driving the truck, this Lego model kit has plenty going for it.

So From the minute the set was officially released to the public, I knew I had to make drastic changes which is what I did. So I added additional axle and converted to crew cab. Replaced the rinky dink tires it came with 3rd party tires made out of real rubber. Looks much better and can climb between 49-54 degrees angles with zero issues.

Being an AFOL, I really enjoyed the set. Excellent aesthetics, four-wheel drive and differential lock. Fantastic performance, especially on steep grades. Something expensive, although I understand the cost of the Control + system. Faults, I find two: the opening of the doors and the engine bonnet on descents and sloping floors. Already solved with the addition of three small parts, retaining the functionality of the aperture.

Decent set, but basic functionality. If you are fortunate enough to afford one.
