Bought this set as a companion set to the Tracked Loader. Spent time over several days building this set, or rather teh A model as not yet done the B model. And not having done any sets with pneumatics before, found the build an enjoyable challange.Found the pneumatics don't always work first time, yet that is as much to user as anthing while getting used to them. This set is a good introduction to the whole world of the pnematics. There are some nice details on this set that help make this set a nice set to look at and use. The only real downside is balance. In using the arm part when the cab is rotated to either side, the completed model starts to tip to that side. That said it is a fun set and enjoyed building it. Looking forward to buiding the B model. Would be interested in a next generation version that address the balance issue :-)
This lego is perfect for those who enjoy a nice build with a few bells and whistles. The pneumatic system works very well, and gives it an extra wow factor. Also given what you get, I believe it's in the right price point. Well done lego team!
The pneumatic system works great/smoothly in the set.
My son who is 6, really enjoys his Lego and we have bought him many different sets. He struggle with some parts of this build which I expected but of the whole of the build I really helped him many 2 or 3 times, No matter what we buy him he completes 98% on his own and don't find any of the sets a challenge.
It's hard to remember when I first built it, but rebuilding some of my older sets to finally get them on display, this one came to the top of the list for re-assembly. Good variety of parts, including some basic pneumatics, as well as a large PF motor and battery box. I kind of wish it had a traditional pneumatic pump over the electrified power pump that it does include. It's large, with the cab and boom point forward, at least 18” from the brush cutter to the tail end, wish it had a mock engine instead of the batter box. I'll echo what others have said, some of the boom functions seem tricky and/or stubborn to get to function properly on the first go around. I've never built the B model, but it's an old enough set to actually have one, so that's always a plus. Overall a good display unit, kind of fits in with some of the farm based and construction based technic sets.
This is a good set by itself, not looking at the price. The motorized and pneumatic functions work perfectly and are really cool and fun. Although I'm not a huge fan of the looks of the machine itself, I'm happy to see that Lego technic is using some different colors in their sets. The small details in this set are on point. Lego technic once again has mixed the standard technic parts with regular system bricks to make something beautifully detailed and fun to play with. On the other hand the set is overpriced. I do realize that the power functions and pneumatic pieces raise the price, but I think 130$ or maybe 140$ would have been more appropriate. If you really have your eyes set on this set, then by all means buy it. It is a great model.
This was a truly enjoyable build and my first large one since I was a kid. I especially appreciated the numbered bags as they made it possible to find pieces in a reasonable amount of time. The pneumatics worked great with no rebuilds and, as usual, the instructions were excellent. I was really impressed with how simple the system was, kind of like a reverse train engine where the rotating motor generates linear motion which fills the system with air. The only real issue I had was the flexible pneumatic tubes gather dust and cat hair like nothing I've ever seen!
This forest machine is easy to build i hope that the crane was power function
I was very happy with the building process, I liked the new colors and the small details that were included in this build. However once finished I was very disappointed with the pnumatic system. The power functions only really half worked. The arm raises and lowers the way it should, however the "blades" that are supposed to open and close seem to require manual assistance. You can see them trying to work, but just can't do it under it's own power. It's not too bad if it is just a display piece, but it's not too good if you want to be able to play with it as it is advertised. I was very disappointed in the end, and found myself wishing that Lego had gone fully electric with this model rather than using pnumatics.
